Currently, during the first playoff week, the 5th and 8th place teams do not play on Tuesday, while every other team does. This seems a bit unfair as these teams are not afforded an extra game to increase minutes for training.

Now, obviously, nothing can be done about this for this season... but for future seasons, I would like to see a forced scrimmage during that first playoff week on Tuesday for those teams who are not involved in either the playoffs or the relegation series.

Bumping this back up as the issue is raging in the World Forum.

I think the money issue is less of an issue (half the teams will gain no money after Tuesday anyway...), but I do think in the first week of the playoffs, every team should play on Tuesday.

Considering that the forced scrimmages on Saturday is a home/away series between the 5 seeds/8 seeds, it would make sense to have a forced scrimmage on the first Tuesday between the 5 seed and the 8 seed in the opposite division.

This seems like a logical suggestion. It would probably eliminate the annual end-of-season "6th place is better than 5th" discussion. I think all the good reasons for this change are clear, having trouble seeing the downside to implementing this change.

Instead we have people throwing games so they wont lose training. 6 of one, half dozen of the other

I am not actually suggesting a playoff between the 5th and 8th seed. I am suggesting a scrimmage between the teams on the Tuesday... much like the forced scrimmages that happen on Saturday between the 5th/5th teams and the 8th/8th team.

The 8th place teams would still relegate, the 5th place teams would still stay put. I just think it is a bit unfair for 4 teams to completely get hosed out of an extra game that 75% of the league is getting.

As I said elsewhere, it is only for the first Tuesday in the playoff weeks. Every other Tuesday would be off... since the vast majority of teams will also not get a Tuesday game during the second week.
