Yesterday, I played a scrimmage game which I won. On the box score page, under matchup ratings, points per 100 shots are compared. My team scored lower than my opponents at every position. How can that be when I won the game? What does points per 100 shots tell you about the game or your team?

Thanks!

easy question. point per 100 shots is based on, umm well, points per 100 shot.

you rebound more or force more turnovers then you have more shots. this way you can have lower rates for this stat but your team is able to win. pretty useless stat in my opinion.

Definitely not a useless stat by any means.

Not every single game will play exactly how the stats bear out.

This would be a very boring game otherwise.

the reason i thought it is useless is that it does not give anything special. you can calculate it through the numbers of shots taken and it is pretty primitive to put in the review. high numbers indicates higher percentage of shots made and lowers indicates lower percentage, so what?? match upcomparison is much more complex and neccessary for sure.

ou can calculate it through the numbers of shots taken

That is false.

The matchup ratings give the expected points per 100 shots, not what the precise number will be.

now that i checked, yes it is something totally different than i thought. when i made a calculation before, i found out it works that way but it was a coincidence i can see now. still it looks kinda unnecessary.:)

OK, lets see if I got this right.
If my team had lower points per 100 shots in every category, it was expected that the opponent will outscore my team and therefore win the game. So, the reason I managed to win the game was because of rebounds and turnovers which helped me overcome those expectations that I should have lost the game.
If this is the case, I can see why. I played with my reserves.
