That brings up a question I never got answered before.
What's the point of staying in the Cup? It appears that home exhibitions tend to always sell out, and you get no money from away Cup games.
So what's the point of staying in the Cup??????

prestige of course :-) !
The economy will probably be reworked when we've worked out where it's going and when everything else is running smoothly. Incomes from scrimmages will more than likely be split and attendances drastically reduced.
It's all very much work in progress for the moment ...

I'm 100% sure that some teams are still getting money from exhibitions, but they don't want me to say their name.
Also, how is the home (money) team determined in the Cup? I know it is not seeding because I have always been the top seed yet I have played home and away.

oh yeah that's great. Testers who dont want to report bugs so they can keep an advantage. Am I the only one who sees the problem with this?

Yeah, that's bogus!*
*says the guy stogey was referring to.
I've been selling out the scrimmages every time and getting money for it. Really, this is not an issue. Move along folks, nothing to see here....

You might want to be in the cup match for a couple reasons:
1) Winning it is awesome, and you get a trophy on your case.
2) You can select "crunch time" or "take it easy" for cup matches, so you can affect your team's enthusiasm for upcoming matches. You can't do that with scrimmages. That is, you can trade being in the cup for a few "take it easies," making your league games easier to win.
3) Home cup games give you money, and home scrimmages do not (at the moment). So, you'll get more money if you stay in the cup.
4) Seeding for the cup is completely random, at the moment, as is whether or not you're the home team. The team match-ups ar randomized after each cup came as well, so you can't really plan more than one game ahead.
The cup is intended as a fun add-on to the game. If you don't feel the need to stay in the cup, use it just like you would a scrimmage - play those players who haven't had too much play time, get in that extra bit of training, and don't care too much if you lost a game. That's up to you. We wanted to give users a way to play against random teams, and see how things play out.

Oh I like the Cup, it's also probably my favorite part of Hattrick since the regular season in Hattrick is so meaningless financially.
Any chance (since it is totally random) that Cup proceeds can be split to reward teams for winning games in it?

Since we're going to be giving at least
some
money for scrummages (split evenly between the teams, we're going to look into something similar for cup games.
