Hi,
I was wondering how the game engine works with regards to shooting oppurtunities. For example will a Point Guard who's a great shooter take more shots, because he knows that, and has a decent chance of making them? And vice versa can you put in a PG with no shooting, but brilliant passing, and just let him create chances for the better shooters on the team?

When a player takes a shot, does he consider his own shooting skills or just how good a chance it is? So a rubbish shooter would look off more shots than others.

Any thoughts?

I think it varies according to your offense and your opponents defence. If your team moves the ball well and your opponent cannot effectively cover your superstar shooter, then yes, he'll get open a lot, especially if your focus is towards his area of shooting skill (ie. outside or inside).

Having passing skill on a PG is obviously incredibly useful: that's his role in the team after all. But even if he's a poor shooter, he'll still take some shots since he'll be covered much less tightly: one of my PGs can't shoot inside for love nor money, but when I play with an inside focus, he still drives to the basket.
