I have a horrible team with a horrible record...so do i tank and get the draft pick or do i try for 4th playoff spot...well am selling on 18 players because they suck!!! won't mind if one stays..and rebuilding a whole new team....huge roster until the 2nd but should release players or sell them before salary hit on income...balance i look forward to our game as it will be a good judge of how i have come along.

Cheers guys

Hey,

Tanking the season is NOT a good idea. Instead, invest more in scouting! It really pays off. If you look at the draft results, you will see that many great players get drafted as low as late second round. Why? Many teams just don't scout well.

To keep fans happy, you have to win games. Learn the different game tactics and how they affect your team. Put more effort into some close games. Get into the playoffs. It has a lot of advantages -- especially on the financial side of things. At the very least, you don't want to risk being demoted to a lower league.

As far as the transfer market, be careful. First of all, young players with high potential can pay off in the future. If they are Canadian, they will also cost you less, in salaries, in the future. Fans are also quite unhappy with "rebuilding".

If you are buying, make sure you buy someone that you will hold on to for a long period of time, if the purchase is above $100,000. Otherwise, you can pick up a few old experienced players at a low price.

Another thing to focus on is training. What level trainer do you have?.. Which players are you training?.. What kind of team are you planning to build?.. Etc.

Anyhow, good luck! Still a long way until the end of the season.

See you in the playoffs. Cheers.

Have a look at my team, it really sux that you have no stat history on your own players. I have purchased quite a few players who have player ranks in the 7 area..notice a lot of players are in the 5 area. You have a very balanced team yourself. I will look for a couple decent 18 yr olds to train . Have taken your advice on scouting not sure how well the guy before me scouted. Not worrying about my arena until next yr. Hope a miracle happens so i place 4th and give you a run for your money. No 50 point win this time.

Think of the style of play you want your team to have:

Offensive, Balanced, or Defensive?
Inside, None, or Outside Player Focus?

After that, purchase your players based on the style of play you want to have. Monitor match-up ratings after the games to see where you are doing well, and where you need improvement.

Remember, you can't have it all right away. Building a good team takes time. Good young talent is expensive and training is fairly slow. Finances get tough at the end of the season, especially if you don't make the playoffs.

And don't pay too much attention to player ranks or transfer list estimates. These can sometimes be misleading.

Your teams looks decent enough right now. You transfer-listed a couple of pretty good (but pretty old) power forwards. Other than that, most of your transfer listed players are indeed fairly lousy.

Hope this helps.
