If I play 2-3 defence, and the opposing shooting guard is making an inside shot. Who is actually guarding him? My shooting guard or the zone defence? I feel like it's still like man-to-man, where my shooting guard is on him. If that's the case, then what is the use of the 2-3 zone?

I know new rules will come into effect where inside players can block guards that penetrate in season 9, but does that mean your shooting guard won't need ID as the 2-3 zone actually works like a 2-3 zone?

Thanks.

As far as I know your guard will indeed guard his guard ;).

The chance that the shot will hit or not depends on several factors, both the individual matchup and the overall skills of your team.

When the guard tries an inside shot, the first thing that happens in the comparison between the team's inside offense and your teams inside defense. Your inside defense will be higher due to the 2-3 zone, so it will be harder to make the shot for your guard. So your 2-3 isn't useless.
