Has anyone else had a problem with spyware or viruses lately? I wonder if they have come from this site or one of the ads...

I was using the match viewer yesterday (Friday) for the Thursday night matches. At one point during the match, something weird happened with the viewer, my computer made a rather loud grinding noise. My Norton Antivirus alert window kept popping up telling me that some kind of downloader had been blocked and then another one would pop up telling me that it blocked some kind of Trojan or other virus.

When I start up my computer, there is some error message. If I click on a new link on this site (say to view my roster or view my economy), a new window pops up which is for various kinds of sites (it changes every time).

I just want to warn other people. I did not click on any ads while I was using the match viewer, but none of this happened until immediately after the match viewer froze on me.

I liked this game, but I'm going to have to vacate my team.

Id lay off the porn sites man, Ive been on this site near daily since summer and I haven't gotten any spyware on my compy, zero pop ups.

Sounds like with your problem its kind of like an overweight 50 year old man dying from a heart attack a week after starting a walking program. Your point of view is that the man died from walking. Look at other factors and possible ways you picked it up cuz it just didnt come from here.

It's not this site. You'd probably had that virus/trojan a long time ago. It just made it's attack on that particular time.

I have something called spybot installed on my computer, and while on this site i get spybot popups saying that there is a URL that is known to be malicious, and of course i deny all of them, i never had any problems with this site before or after i have installed spybot, but could there be some kind of spyware on this site that has been illegaly put here. It seems improbable in my mind, but i don't think spybot would lie. This is a very interesting topic.

I know they use google analytics because from time to time I see it loading.

Google analytics is a great way to learn more about your site and improve it btw.

I'm sure it is, but is it not technically spyware? Maybe I'm wrong... I really don't know what exactly spyware is or what exactly google analytics does.

Google analytics: http://www.google.com/analytics/

Basically it tracks where users come from (what search engine, cost-per-click advertising, website link etc.) and what pages they visit. I don't believe it installs any software/spyware on the users computer.

Tons of sites on the web use it to evaluate their online marketing efforts.

Exactly, but it is not only used to evaluate you online marketing efforts, but also to evaluate how people click on your side. For instance, you can use it to learn which pages are working as supposed, and which are not (i.e. learn how to improve the site).
