As most big men have bad outside defense. If a C plays more toward the perimeter, is the opposing C's outside Defense used or their inside. Say I have a C with atrocious outside D and proficient inside D, and I play a run and gun team, will that C score on my C more if he's taking perimeter shots, or is it irrelevant to the type of shot he takes? I'm asking, because C's are not weighted when calculating outside defense.

If your running a Zone then I believe the center's outside D does not matter. Say in a 2-3 the Perimeter defense that will weigh the most (perhaps 100% someone please correct me) is the PG/SG (2 (PG/SG) - 3 (SF/PF/C)) Like a real zone, but I do think that some of the defense weighed in is from the man covering him C on C.

In a Man to Man, to my knowledge if the opposing center takes an outside shot it will be your centers outside defense that is used to calculate the shot.

normally if you run a outside offense like r&G or motion, the demand for big man to have JS and JR arent that high especially if you got a team with almost everyone with at least average passing and really very good guards.

but overall the percentage should not be that high unless he usually takes 1 attempts all the time and makes it.

but it sure does have an effect on their OD.

im just going to share this,

this is my analysis on my team since i play R&G,

the reason even being bad 3 pt shooters is that, i do believe you ran a outside offense, there will come a time wherein your guards though how shooter they are will be guarded firmly being set a 3-2 or 1-3-1 defense.

my findings is that the type of shot your big man takes are bail out shots because they are so open or worst is your guards cant be given the ball.

at time your guards unless they have no passing will force shots, if they got mediocre or above passing they would in a way wont force shots and give up to ball in someway or better yet be able to execute a fine pass, this also could spell to some degree the turnover they make when passing

overall, 33.8% is not bad for a % for people who cant actually shoot well.

but if your running a inside game . . . . . havent really tried it so much so its hard to say.
