i realize a higher potential indicates that a player is trainable through a later age.

but does it also mean that he trains faster?

to be specific: two players, both 18 y.o., every relevant factor (size, time of training, coach, everything) the same, except one has the potential "announcer" and the second "all star", and both are inept at JS. Would the "all star" train faster (at this stage)?

No, they would train at the same rate.

thanks for the quick response.

could i go further with the question:

take our "announcer" and "all star", train them at the same rate -- they would stay together UNTIL the announcer reached his "soft cap"; then the announcer would, over time, fall further and further behind.

And I understand this "soft cap" is a product of both the age and the salary/skill level of the player.

true?

Everything except the age part - age doesn't matter.
