In regards to game shape, there is a post in the general forum (in the Managing Game Shape thread) where a BB stated that at the beginning of each season the game shape is reset to the lowest sublevel of Respectable. Therefore, everyones player will have 7.0 gameshape.

Or, it could mean every player will start with a gameshape of 6.5, right? unless I've missed an indication by a BB of it starting at 7.0.

If you used bbapi you saw GS of 6 at the start of the season. When it showed 9 in game, it showed 8 with bbapi. I did not check it this seasons start though. I think they made some improvements and it might show the correct numbers now.

I suppose it is possible, the post seemed to imply (to me anyway) that it was starting at 7. I don't see why it would be 7.5 to 8.5 or 6.5 to 7.5. Seems so illogical. And I like to believe that the lowest skill someone can have is 1. Which is equal to atrocious. And then atrocious is from 1 - 1.99. However if we consider your theory, then the lowest skill someone can have is 0.5, which is very very strange in my opinion. If they were going to start it on 0.5, why not have it on 0?

And I suppose you could argue that we do start on 0 and so it takes longer to get from atrocious to pitiful but I don't think that is the case. Also someone with atrocious jump shot can still score (just not often) which geves credit to the fact that skills don't start on 0 (as then, in theory anyway, he wouldn't be able to score) and that they actually start on 0.5 or 1. Out of those 2 I think it is far more reasonable for it to be starting on 1.

I wouldn't make the assumption that skill level and enthusiasm level use the same rounding methods, again, unless I've missed something the BB's have said. I understand why it would make sense to make that leap, but that assumption could very well be incorrect.

I'm sure there are mathematical ways of finding out which rounding method is being used, I'm just not smart enough to figure it out. For example, if someone does have an enthusiasm of 12 going into a game it is likely a very low 12 (close to 11.5 or 12.0), and after TIE'ing that game, if it goes to an enthusiasm of 15, then we know .5 is rounded up because the 12.0 should go to 16... (although that's assuming it is increased by 1/3 and not just 0.33).

I'm not saying that it is definitely rounded down so that 7.5 shows as 7. I was just giving the reasons why I believe that to be the case. Not sure if I understood right, but are you saying that you believe that 7.5 to 8.5 shows as 8? Or were you just saying that you aren't sure but the reasons I gave doesn't prove it is what I believe.

If anyone has looked at enthusiasm levels closely could someone enlighten me as to what is the rounding process used?
Cheers

Was more saying the latter, I really am not sure what the rounding method is. It would be nice to know for sure.

Hopefully someone can enlighten us. If it does turn out that 7.5 gets rounded up to 8, I would love to know the reasoning behind it as it would just seem bizarre to me.

It's just a convention, there's no big deal about it. Either 7 represents the interval (7;8) or the interval (6.5;7.5), I don't see any confusion emanating from this

I agree it is just trivial, but still would be interesting to know :P I would be very surprised if it wasn't 7 to 8, but that's just me :)

Yeah that would also seem like the natural choice for me, but in my line of business we tend to not care about conventions :P
