Rocky: I see three of him out there.
Paulie: Hit the one in the middle.
Duke: Right! Hit the one in the middle.

Drago: He's not human. He's like a piece of iron.

ok you guys didnt get what we meant at all.

we meant a pl in which there 2 groups of teams like in a normal league there is the big 8 and great 8.

the pl games consist of only "cross over games" big 8 vs great 8

but we can name each side our selves.

so that a group vs another group can play against each other.

this style is allready having great results in aussie only pl's

we would just like the option so we dont have to create our own tables and record our own stats and stuff.

i think its a great add to the current pl options.

but its cool be twits and make fun of a good idea

So when I wrote:
Maybe the PL schedule needs to have an option to allow the schedule to be manually set up rather than randomly established, and that the schedule duration also be customizable so that all matches are only between rivals. That would help with these sorts of competitions.

...how did I not get it? I think I got it all right. And earlier I also did write:
Otherwise, it's an intriguing idea, to create a level of affiliation for private league purposes with groups of users that are smaller than the small countries.

I don't think anyone said it was a bad idea, I think we, well at least I, had concerns about the added complexity that this adds to the sum of the leagues/game types we already have and that this could be overwhelming, particularly to newer BB users. I apologize if all the other humor stuff, which was meant to lighten the concerns I had about the idea, is twittish.

Duke to Rocky: You see?? You cut him! You hurt him! You see! He's just a man! He's not a machine! He's a man! Be more man than him!

Zyler is correct. What we would like is just an option for private leagues to set up a group against group format. We would like to have the abilitiy to divide the teams into a Big 8 and a Great 8 in private leagues. Then the ability to make all games crossover games would be an even better addition. Not a massive coding operation surely.

We do already have one Aussie PL that operates as much as it can this way and another one will be starting quite soon. The idea of your club being part of a bigger group is very appealing and the teamwork between players and the support you get from your fellow coaches makes BB even more enjoyable than usual.

another great idea there.

we currently have 2 so called "clan" leagues in within australia , with one soon to be in its 2nd season and the other about to start its first season.

there is allready talk among the active users in australia to create a div 2 for both the "clan" leagues within australia.

basically how we run our pl is via a point system

clan 1 vs clan 2 = 1 point per win to the winning clan

clan 1 vs clan 1 or clan 2 vs clan 2 = 1 point per win to the winning clan

playoff games are worth 2 points
final worth 3 points.

the clan with most points at the end wins overall

we still use the current standing system to decide the play offs and such.

if this suggestion was to be implemented it would shorten the seasons considerably and make it all much easier to do.

also the suggestion you just made about clan members nominating a member or 2 would be great as an allstar week option mid private league.

IMHO this idea could and would bring a whole new facet to buzzerbeater , one that i know the majority of active aussie users are willing to pay for.

we also ran a live team draft via the chat on game day - we appointed 2 teams head of there "clans" and scouted the other 14 teams that signed up for the pl - we had well over thirty users attend this team draft with others users being very interested in the idea.

id like to get a bb's comment on if this idea would be likely implemented at some stage as it will to plan for future private leagues .

thank you

we all love bb and what better way to promote it and encourage more players to get a supporter package than improving the current pl system

i think the following improvements should apply

1) anyone who wins a 16 team pl (minimum of 15 weeks - so a real time investment) should get a trophy, it is much harder than winning in a lower league, that will be 16 players who are really into the game

2) each league (16 team 15 + weeks) should also award a mvp which is also displayed on the teams page

3) allow more options for those creating the pl for example
east v west or big 8 v great 8
only crossover games
4 conferences north, south, east and west or big 8, great 8, little 8 and new 8

4) ncaa knockout style pl
cant say i would like this much myself but why not let 16 teams fight in single elimination action

5) world championships style
2 pools that fight each other for seedings then crossover matches and single elimination from there (8 or 16 teams only)

6) pl all star game option
should not be instead of a regular game, no-one would like that, but would happen during the same week as the regular all star week (which may be at the beginning, middle or end of the pl) on the tuesday when not much else is happening for most teams

7) prizes!
old cliche "it takes money to make money" - just dangling some free supporter in front of pl winners (min 16 teams 15+ weeks) would encourage more to pay up than you would pay out

pls are already the best thing about being a supporter, lets make them even better, get more supporters and make bb great
