A player must play minutes in the National Team that week for merchandise to rise. 90% sure but hopefully someone else can confirm for you.

Oh...this is sad :S. I thought the merchandise will increase, just from having a player who's on a NT...
But then at the end of the day, I guess the merchandise increase really isn't significant, is it?

Depends on your definition of significant. You can get quite a nice boost in merchandise if the player is your draftee, and on your own national team and has a high salary.

i would never buy a jersey of someone who sits on bench and averages 3.2 min per game on national team. would you?
