Blocking is always listed at the end, I wonder why nobody likes this skill... If it had a more obvious (=measurable impact) everybody would love it...

This is a flawed argument.

The ranking of skills ultimately becomes what sort of player you are trying to get.

Obviously for a C, ID would be much more important than OD and vice versa for a guard.


I did my ranking from cumulative perspective, obviously there will be variation based on what kind of team you have and what kind of opponent. But when accumulating everything, there are a bit more of the outside focus team than inside focus and as a result I gave more weight to the outside focus skills

Run and Gun: PG, SG and SF take at least 75% of your team's shots.
Look inside: PG, SG and SF take at least 60% of your team's shots.

That's why I always play 3-2 against both outside and inside oriented tactics. If C and PF would take 75% shots in Look inside, I would play 2-3 defense. Since this isn't the case, I value OD and JS much higher than ID and IS.

That indeed is not true.

It all depends on the matchups. Even in LI, if your team is able to succesfully get the ball inside, your SF/SG/PG would not take as many shots or even then they still look for a inside shot first and only start resorting to JSs only if its either a good look or shot clock is running out.

It isn't so untrue, you need really bad shooting guard to give the big guys so many shoots but if your big guys dominate inside, even the guards score high percentage under the basket :)

i think outside defense and rebounding most important skills, also if u play 3-2 zone high blocking centers blocks nearly all oponent pg.sg.sf layups:D( i have had respectrable blocking pg anf sf, they used to average ~2 blocks per game too), so defence is most important. also i noticed that the biggest impact for the game (any type of offense) makes point guard and small forward, those pozitions are key pozitions either in real life NBA and buzzerbeater :)

Interesting question. I like ot have very balanced players since I think this gives you the most return in terms of salary, but my ranking would look like:

1. OD
2. JS
3. ID
4. RB
5. PS
6. JR
7. HN
8. IS
9. DV
10. SB

But honestly, if it can be shown that SB does what I think it does, I would probably put it at 6 or 7 but without some further investigation I'm not willing to make it a priority for my training or transfers.

Regarding three pointers how important are driving and handling? As I happen to have a player who has ludicrously high jump shot, driving and handling, compared to his jump range, passing and od. He's not a consistent shooter, but on average takes more three pointers than others. What's going on?


Which position do you put him normally and what kind of tactics do you usually play?
