What if it was only 2? What if they were both NT centers? Should the discount still apply?

I say yes, but don't forget that in my system you only get a discount if their salary this season is higher than last season, so if their salary in season 15 is $300,000 and in season 14 it was $300,000 they get a massive discount of...nothing.

You've conveniently forgotten in your system that salaries are adjusted every off-season against those of the highest-skilled players in the game. It's quite possible to train a player and have his salary decrease (i.e., training a, say, 26yo 300k center from atrocious OD to inept OD).

Another issue that occurs to me (and perhaps I'm not understanding your meaning perfectly here) is that this player got a discount in season 14. If he has the same salary in season 15, and you remove the discount, suddenly he costs more in season 15 than he did in season 14 as a penalty for not increasing his salary, which (excuse me for saying so) is freaking ludicrous.

Yes but now you are talking about such a tiny minority of teams. There are how many teams in the USA? 3,500? And I imagine less than 12 actually have a player on the senior national team. I doubt all 12 actually drafted the guy. I know a player who has his own draft pick in the Australian senior team and he gets crazy merchandising. So yes there is already a huge bonus for those lucky few teams but I am a little more concerned with helping the other 3,500.

You don't think this would change how people play the game? You think I have kept 9 of my own draftees because they're awesome players?

Nope, and I only plan to train them for the merch kickbacks. If you want a discount for training the players you drafted, then train the players you drafted. The mechanics are already in place, we're not exactly curing cancer here.

There is already an incentive in place to train draft picks, it's called merchandise.

Really? My best player, my SG is from my original startup team and I have two draft picks I am training, one is my PG and the other is my SF some day in the future, and yet my merchandising is WAY below the league average.

Great incentive.

You only have 3 players in your entire team that are homegrown. And from the looks of it, only Ðuričko and Masters are starters. Additionally, over the past 14 weeks you've had 16 transfers. How many balls do you have in the part of the fans survey that says "I am familiar with the star players, and am not afraid that they will be transferred"?

I have never had more than one ball there and mostly it is 1/2 a ball! I had to totally redo 3 of my 5 positions this season as I was really struggling. It has been hard for me to keep my homegrown draft picks as I have been firmly comitted to guards but I did kep Kent even though he was 6'7" but the even bigger draft picks I have sold off, but I also kept Neale even though he was 6'6" with atrocious JS and then this season I drafted another player with atrocious JS. What can I do? Every season the draft tells me to start training bigs but all my guards are young and all my bigs are old.

I do have one more homegrown player but he is only there for scrimmages once I am out of the cup. I also have 7/12 players that are Australian at least! :)

That should explain your problems with merchandise.

Maybe it's telling you to train a lot of JS? ;)

This will help if you just hold tight and keep your # of transfers down. Patience, young padawan.

I have one ball for the "star player" category for the last 3 or four seasons and always have been above seoason average for merchandise.

I try to have as many NT-players as possible on my roster, that gives you some few k per player extra. While it is hard to buy NT-players from big countries, there are plenty affordable and reasonable players (like ~150k centers compared to the 400k+ monsters from bigger communities) on the market every week.

I have two drafted players on my team that both were in the U21 that seems to have helped too.
