yeh, they built it up that much which was great, but the end result was just terrible,
when you think bout it, the car was irrelevant, all 4 could've done that dunk, he may as well have just done a normal ally

Yeah, and Serge deserved a 50 for his FT line dunk. If he was a guard that would have won the comp.

Griffin couldn't really dunk any of the amazing ones he was attempting, had to revert to plan B most of the time.

i wasn't suggesting the Knicks are a chance for the title. Melo is only going there cos Lala his missus wants to move to NY. If he wants a title shot he should become a FA and then sign with a contender in the offseason. I think Boston would be mad not to make a play for him. Their stars are getting old and he would be a great piece to put next to Rondo for the next 8 yrs. Trouble is that Pierce still has a few years left and they play the same spot.

The Clips would be an ideal destination but they never get the big FA's so no doubt the power of the pussy will prevail and he will end up in NY be it via trade or in the offseason.

As long as Chicago don't do something stupid and make a play for him. Derrick Rose is the man, and the Nuggets would want Noah and that would set the Bulls back abit. Although we've been playing well without him

well apparently the knicks have done it. wouldve loved to see felton stay where he was though.

Knicks would send Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov and a 2014 first-round draft pick to the Nuggets, who would get additional picks and cash.

New York would acquire Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman

what does everyone think about this trade?

actually knicks wins... since the only first round pick is in 2014 and some rubbish second rounds... by then nuggets shouldn't need that pick if they know how to manage the team and already build up a contending team.

think of it as:

Knicks = gets Melo for Chandler and Gallinari (lesser SFs for an elite one although very pure scorer not well rounded at all...)

as well as

Felton for Billups (not a bad trade considering Felton is a pretty below par starter at the PG slot before he came to knicks, aided by the system rather than skills... he can prove me wrong of course)

loses a raw prospect in Randolph which doesnt matter as they are going to be contending

pick up a lot of salary cap as they gotten rid of the terrible contract in Curry and picked up some expiring contracts from the nuggets... Chris Paul, anyone?

Nuggets

loses out their 2 star players and didnt get a whole lot in term of young talent except Chandler. Felton, I am still a critic as well as gallinari... freaking soft! no picks either... would really liked to see a trade with NJ or picked up Fields or Randolph for Gallinari even Felton since they already have a PG in ty lawson... especially with nene and JR smith possible leaving

Minnesota

got a young talent in Randolph just by being in it for a defensive SG...

I highly doubt they can acquire an elite PG like Paul or Deron.

The Knicks are expected to have four players -- Anthony (at a little more than $20 million), Stoudemire (at a little less than $20 million), Balkman ($1.7 million) and Toney Douglas ($2 million) -- under contract in the 2012 offseason, adding up to about $44 million in payroll. And that does not include Landry Fields, who will be a restricted free agent that summer, or the Knicks' 2011 first-round draft pick. If the Knicks keep and commit to both, the payroll will be several million higher. If not, the Knicks will also have to account for another seven minimum cap holds (assuming that the new salary cap rules require cap holds, which is likely) to reach the required 11-man roster. That would raise their projected cap another $2.5 million, putting them around $46.5 million.

Assuming the salary cap in 2012 is the same that it is this season ($58 million), the Knicks would be looking at $11.5 million in cap space in 2012. However, no one thinks the cap will stay the same. With the owners asking for major concessions from the players in the new collective bargaining session, the cap will most likely be considerably lower.

Even if the NBA lowers the maximum salary that players like Paul, Williams or Howard can make in 2012, it's highly unlikely the Knicks will have the cap space to pay them anything close to the max.

That's a pretty big obstacle, but not an impossible one to overcome. There are other ways of acquiring elite talent.

The Knicks could also try to do what they did with Anthony and make a trade at next season's trade deadline for one of the elite free agents. But the problem with that idea is that they have even less to work with than they did this season. New York won't have a first-round pick they can offer until, at best, 2016 (league rules prohibit teams from trading picks in consecutive years). So what could the Knicks offer a team like the Hornets, Jazz or Magic?

Yeah they can, its been said that CP3 wants to pair up with Carmelo in New York in 2012. I guess the Knicks jumped on the gun to get Carmelo to sign his 3 yr 65mil contract to keep him happy. They have already tanked the last 10 seasons, maybe as tank another 4 months and wait for Carmleo to become a FA.
Player -----2010/11 -----2011/12 -----2012/13 -----2013/14 -----2014/15
Amare Stoudemire -----$16,486,611 -----$18,217,705 -----$19,948,799 -----$21,679,893 -----$23,410,988
Ronny Turiaf -----$4,000,000 -----$4,360,000 (player option)
Kelenna Azubuike -----$3,364,000
Roger Mason -----$1,400,000
Toney Douglas -----$1,071,000 -----$1,145,640 -----$2,067,880(team option)
Shawne Williams -----$885,210
Bill Walker -----$854,389 -----$916,100(team option)
Andy Rautins -----$600,000 -----$788,872
Landry Fields -----$473,604 -----$788,872

Chauncey Billups -----$13,150,000 -----$14,200,000(team option)
Renaldo Balkman -----$1,675,000 -----$1,675,000 -----$1,675,000
Shelden Williams -----$915,852
Corey Brewer ----$3,703,472

Chris Paul -----$14,940,152 -----$16,359,805 -----$17,779,457(player option)

according to that in 2012/13 when CP3 is a FA, only amare 20mil, douglas 2mil, fields(resign for 6mil), balkman 1.6mil and carmelo 20mil will be on contract. thats a total of 50mil. Enough left to sign CP3 for around 20mil to make it 70mil LOL

of course next season they can always do a sign and trade with CP3, they will have billups 14mil to match up with CP3's 16mil and have trade baits in turiaf, douglas, bill walker and god forbid landry fields(best player in NY =P).
