I don't want to turn this into a lengthy discussion, since I got better uses for my time. We currently have a number of issues at any given time (just read the known issues thread here in the bugs forum). That doesn't mean we should advertise them on the main page. The analogy may not be completely in place, but some things deserve more attention and some don't. It's my personal point of view that too much information can also be a bad thing.
