that would be a fiasco, lets say my best player is 33 years old and he could randomly retire, leaving me in a hopeless situation.

Really? That happens every season in many professional leagues all over the world...

I think players should have an expiration date, here we can play them until they are hundreds of years old - why would anybody want to retire a player anyway?

What if I am in d.v and I buy an old guy who is head and shoulders above my other players yet cheap enough for my lowly team to buy? Such blanket statements are so poorly considered before being made. There are 49750 teams in this game. I think it is ludicrous to disparage someone for having a 33- year old be their best player.

but many people are saying that even quality players don't drop a skill during a season, but loosing 2-3 skills are hard but he is still useful.

But yes those skill dropping have me lead to sell one of those 5-10 players, since i fought to hard to raise his skills to see them drop^^

I'm totally with you. In Hattrick you can retire a player and give him a new job, e.g. referee or merchandiser. I would love to have this kind of option. For the same reason you mentioned: there are some players on my team I will never sell and I would hate to have to fire them (and surely 40 year old players will not become FA). I know a lot of teams out there that are keeping their >40 year old players for the same reason.

Where I play has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not there are 33 year old players who can help a team. You are dead wrong and so you turn to the age old attack on small country players from your high horse in Spain. Drivel and poppycock. Without question there are older players who are not only more economically feasible than young players, they also have much experience. In fact, I just checked the first place teams in three Spanish d.v teams, and every one of them had a player 32 years or older. Go ahead and look for yourself, and maybe learn something. My guess is that the majority of promoting d.v squads in any country will have at least one old-timer who is contributing. My exhaustive research (3 teams in Spanish d.v) tells me so.
