You must remember how it all happened.
Patient wasn't so popular before BB added defensive switch, enabling managers to play guards as C and have them defend their native positions...

Patient as a tactic is fine. playing slowly until you find the best match-up is fair, reasonable and realistic. But it seems that patient tactic (That was around before managers were able to make defensive switches) became ridicules since the D change.

I personally think it's a side effect no one thought of when implemented defensive switch and as such it must be fixed.

I think the Zone - m2m disadvantage is too high. I doubt that the dogma "m2m is the best" is best for the game.

Well you now take this thread to a whole other place. I for one think that updating D in game engine should be a high priority task. Current situation were 2-3 zone doesn't work as it did in the past and "Box and one" is not really clear must change.

But as I said that's an other discussion.

As for patient. I agree with Wolph. As I said before, it's a fine tactic and shouldn't be removed but something must be done. Current situation is just managers taking advantage of a side effect created by BB.

I can easly agree with your opinion.
Something has to be done to solve the patient tactic problem.

I hope a discussion about this can lead to something good for BB.
That's why i created this thread, so that we all could say what we think about it.

Actually I don´t see the patient problem as big. There´s very few true upsets, even if you play a SG on the C spot. The better -team- still wins in most cases, won´t it?

"The better team"
What's that?

SG as C with Patient can change games complacently. The favorite team can and should lose games in case the other team out play them in terms of tactic - BB should make sure that it happen (Unless where's the fun..??) but patient with SG as C is just taking it to far for my opinion...

I agree that this possibility of PG playing at C (and vice-versa) is ridiculous, although the two things that make it possible (Patient offense and defensive switching) aren't the problem by themselves. One thing I wonder is if you can somehow limit the defensive switchings. For instance, allowing your PG and SG to defend only as PG or SG, and allowing the SF/PF/C to defend at SF, PF, or C. I realize this may hurt when you want to train your guards in inside skills, but it would make it harder to play bigs/guards way out of position.

Ideally you would want the game engine to identify the reasonable defensive assignments, but that's much harder to put in place.
