Not really a problem (if you read my first post) more something I realised seemed to be happening when i started looking at longer term numbers for individual players and thought could be improved but I guess we'll see if its just me that juggles minutes like that.

Sometimes the two bob attitude of established managers is pretty damaging to this game

I apologize if my attitude came across as rude. That was not my intention. I was more trying to understand what your thought processing was for your lineup setting for your league games and scrimmages, as your method did not make a lot of sense to me... I always appreciate suggestions about the game and GS/minute issue suggestions are aplenty in BB, so you are not alone, in having issues (or seeing trends) with it. I personally do not think juggling minutes is as hard as sometimes presented, but I understand that many other people are on your side too. Once again, my condolences if I came across as a crude established manager, I was not trying to.

I am on your side!

We should be able to play our best lineup every game - period. There's a reason LaBron plays like 40 minutes a game and Mike Miller and Shawn Marion are not.

There needs to be some space to have a decent bench AND maximize all your players potential. Now you have to decide if you want your players on top of the leaderboards or have decent gameshape.

My team is statistical leader in almost every category of the league, yet I have close to zero players in the leaderboards.

I agree with E.B.W., it is absolutely possible to start twice a week your best players if the subs are good enough. Except possibly the trainees since we expect them to play a full game at 48 minutes already.

If starting equals 30mpg, then it is possible.

Players like Gortat average those minutes... Top players are around 36-38 mpg, which would hurt your gameshape longterm.

Maybe something like a three week rolling average could be a possible solution, so that you could bench your players (like the Spurs do it) in games that can be thrown or where the opponent is too weak.

I have no proof of it, but there is that idea that GS is affected not just by one week, but the last few. I don't know either if 70-70-40 minutes weeks will give the same as 60-60-60, but that would be, indeed, a good thing.

There should be the possibility to play like 110 minute weeks without a GS hit too. So maybe three weeks would be even too low. Would definitely increase the interest in the Cup and lower the amount of thrown games in the Long run.

No worries, I understand where you're coming from.

In terms of my minutes this season (although I have been a bit inconsistent because im in a duff league full of bots) is that the best position to balance minutes for the whole team going into the scrimmage/cup game is for starters to only play one but i guess there are plenty of variables that mean they could easily play two.

You know that me using 3 weeks was just as an example. It may or may not be true that last few weeks (up to whatever number) has an effect.

Making it official and/or changing it to allow 110 minutes could be something on which I do not have a strong opinion (seems good idea). I would just say that the 110 minutes would have to be averaged by shorter weeks after more than before, just a feeling for me.

Just looking at my players and considering basketball is a superstar driven sport, the production is a bit disappointing.

Per buzzermanager 4 of my players are among the top 10 in the league (5th ist ranked 12th).

My best scorer is ranked 12th with 25ppg.
My best rebounder is ranked 14th (second Player 15th)
Assists: 10th
Blocks: 2nd and 4th (but this stat does not show up on the league overview)

No player ranked top 20 in steals, although my team is third in steals. (teams playing FCP own this stat)

All this just because I distribute minutes as good as I can. "Normally" I should have players on top of those leaderboards, as my team is (one of) the strongest in the league. Same for individual players.
