Correct. Prices are reasonably low during playoffs.

Looking at the transfer estimates of my own (mostly untrained) mid-age players I cannot support the thesis of reasolably low prices at any time during the season.

(26484915), acquired Dec 2014 at the age of 26 for 510k now has an estimation of 500-800k.
(30450573), acquired Mar 2015 at the age of 25 for 676k now has an estimation of 950-1300k (few ups included)

Looking at the ever less number of players my (unchanged) transfer filter returns now in comparison to the past I guess that the impact of less free agents is more significant than the BBs admit.

It is definitely a seller's market right now, which is great if you want to sell off your entire team and roll around in loads of cash, but not so great if you are looking to add a quality player or two to your roster.

Is it possible that the BB admin is holding back the free agents? Less top tier talent seem to be available. Normally, there is an influx of nice players after the 4th game of B3 elims and this coming all star break Prices are high across the board. Rookies, vets (most affected 33+), middle priced and yes even badly built players.

It takes a few people to drive up bidding. One manager can bid up to 10-15 (no limit as long as he can cover the bid) prospects on the transfer list and that usually drives bidding. Maybe more managers are doing this now. Even if the subscriber base is 21K but more active, the demand is high. Just my observations.

I think everyone is participating in that price bubble.

Yup, whether they want to or not. You could just as easily have concluded that the price increases are reaching every corner of the game, becoming inescapable.

I see many users talking about the prices going up, but when I randomly look at players they are selling, I often see they are asking more than what they paid. For 28 y old players, few weeks after purchasing the players. I think everyone is participating in that price bubble.

Even if the starting bids are reasonable, over time bids drive prices up way too far.

In an inflationary environment that's the logical thing to do. The problem is that the supply of players on the market is really hitting rock bottom and you have people not able to afford replacement players without selling their own players at a profit (also because of the taxes on sales).

What bothers me is that inflation is not driven by an increase in talent (the average skills of the players in the game) as it would if training or skills were boosted, but by a lack of supply. Every season you pay more for the exact same player. Older players with the same skills also sell for the same amount or for more than they did in previous seasons...

And you know who benefited from the Marin's crusade for higher prices? Daytraders! Yes the guys he so wanted to punish are now making fewer transactions, but at higher margins...and they are out there again, check it out.
