Philippines U21 gets back on the winning track, routs U.A.E. U21 (77235)

Beirut, Lebanon -- Philippines U21 went on a rampage from the get-go as they blasted U.A.E. U21 in the first quarter, 27-7, en route to a wire-to-wire win by the Filipinos, 91-66. The Filipinos' defense limited the Emiratis to just 29.3% field goal shooting.

Servando Tanay led the Philippines side in scoring with 19 points on 9 of 16 field goal shooting. Leonard Delmonte almost got a double-double with 18 points and 9 rebounds, while Rogelio Martinez was a spark off the bench, scoring 16 points. Luis Irueta continues to show his rebounding prowess as he collected 22 rebounds, 8 of which are offensive. Irueta and Manny Emil Ricamona each dished out 5 assists. Philippines U21 will now sport a 2-1 win-loss record in the second round.

Ameen Ababneh Abed-Hossein powered the U.A.E. side with 22 points. The only other double digit scorer was Osman Musa, who scored 11 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. U.A.E. U21 falls to 1-2, and could be in danger of not making the playoffs with contenders, Indonesia and Hong Kong, up next in their schedule.

On December 10th 12:00mn (Manila Time), it will be Philippines U21 versus Macau U21. It will be the second meeting between these two teams, with Philippines U21 winning in their first matchup. Please continue to support our National teams.

Rogelio Martínez leads Philippines U21 to an impressive win over Macau U21 (77238)

Beirut, Lebanon -- It was a tight first quarter with both teams not giving an inch of space in terms of scoring, but Philippines U21 pulled away from their opponents in the second and third quarter to end the game in a blowout fashion, 111-72. This was Philippines U21's second win over Macau U21 in this tournament.

Leading the way for the Filipinos was Rogelio Martínez with 27 points. He had 17 points in the first half to help blow the game wide open. Saturnino Samara was the second highest scorer for the Philippines with 18 points while Sabino Margarico added 17 points off the bench. Meanwhile, the bigmen trio of Norberto Cena, Luis Irueta and Francis Bayoneta amassed a total of 32 rebounds and 13 assists, showing their rebounding and playmaking prowesses.

Hong Tingguo collected 19 points to lead Macau U21, followed by Zhang Tianping with 14 points, and Zhang Xianlei with 13 points. With this loss, Macau U21 bows out of contention for a semifinals stint, even if they win against Japan U21, their next opponent.

As for Philippines U21, Indonesia U21 is up next in their calendar (December 17, 12:00mn, Manila time). But because of Indonesia U21's surprising loss against U.A.E. U21 earlier, the Indos' path to a semifinals slot became a lot murkier. If Indonesia U21 won earlier, they just need to win against Philippines U21. But now, they need to win next week, by 57 points or more.

Again, please support our National Teams. To those who are managing current U21 players, we're near the homestretch, so please be more mindful of the game shape of your player/s. We have 2 training updates left.

Points Leaders:
Rogelio Martínez - 27 points
Saturnino Samara - 18 points
Sabino Margarico - 17 points

Rebounds Leaders:
Norberto Cena - 12 rebounds
Luis Irueta - 12 rebounds
Francis Bayoneta - 10 rebounds

Assists Leaders:
Francis Bayoneta - 6 assists
Norberto Cena - 4 assists
Saturino Samara - 3 assists
Manny Emil Ricamona - 3 assists

Indonesia U21 staves off Philippines U21's comeback attempt, deals Philippines U21 their second loss in the tournament (77240)

Beirut, Lebanon -- Indonesia U21 delivered a great performance to keep Philippines U21 at bay, and ended up with the W, 87-85. Indonesia's lead went by as much as 13 points, 64-51 in the middle of the third quarter, but the Filipinos didn't let down as they tried to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter. It didn't end well though for the Philippines as Rogelio Martínez's final 3 point heave missed. Both teams ended up with 3-2 record, but Philippines U21 secures the last semis slot via points differential. Indonesia U21 needed to win by 57 points or more, but they only ended up with a 2-point win. This also gives the Philippines at least a Bronze medal, but they'll have a chance to get a better podium finish in the semis.

The Indonesians were led by Engel Juhana with 28 points, while Junior "The Hawk" Tuah (Sorry, I can't help giving him that nickname) contributed 21 points. Habibi Isman scored 14 points, on top of 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal.

On the other side, Brian Quiogue, first-time starter, delivered a double-double, 25 points and 12 rebounds. Servando Tanay and Rogelio Martínez continues their double-digit scoring streaks with 19 and 17 points, respectively.

The semis matchups are already set:
Philippines U21 vs China U21
Australia U21 vs Hong Kong U21

These matches will most likely be scheduled on Saturday, December 21, 12:00mn (Manila time). The winners will go to the Finals on Monday/ Tuesday, while the losers get another shot at a World Cup ticket via World Cup Barrage, same day as the Continental Finals.

Points Leaders:
Brian Quiogue - 25 points
Servando Tanay - 19 points
Rogelio Martínez - 17 points

Rebounds Leaders:
Luis Irueta - 15 rebounds
Brian Quiogue - 12 rebounds
Servando Tanay - 6 rebounds

Assists Leaders:
Manny Emil Ricamona - 5 assists
Luis Irueta - 5 assists
Servando Tanay - 3 assists

China U21 gave Philippines U21 a nightmarish loss, punches ticket to the Finals and World Cup (77543)

Beirut, Lebanon -- It was indeed a nightmare of a loss for Philippines U21 as China U21's impregnable zone defense limited their opponents to just 49 points in the whole game, and just 5 points in the fourth quarter.

The game was somehow close in the first half, with China U21 only leading by 7 points, 36-29. But, a 10-0 blitz by the Chinese to begin the third quarter gave them the cushion that they need to secure the win, 81-49, and more importantly, a ticket to the World Cup and at least a Silver finish. They will face the winner of the other semifinals match, Hong Kong U21, for a no holds barred battle for the Gold trophy.

Meanwhile, Philippines U21 and Australia U21 will get another shot at a World Cup stint via World Cup Barrage on December 23-24, same day as the Finals. Opponents will be revealed later, Saturday afternoon, which could be from Europe or the Americas.

Chai Hengde and Mao Daliang muscled their way through their opponent's zone, and score 15 and 14 points, respectively, to lead China U21. They also grabbed a total of 22 rebounds. As a team, they outrebounded their counterparts, 59-39.

On the other side, Saturnino Samara and Juan Lustre were the only bright spots for Philippines U21 as they collected 16 and 12 points, respectively. China's defense held them to just 23.4% field goal shooting, and forced Philippines U21 to take ill-advised shots.

Again, please support our National Teams, especially this coming Monday/ Tuesday. This is a must-win game for us.

Points Leaders:
Saturnino Samara - 16 points
Juan Lustre - 12 points
Nilo Caniga - 8 points

Rebounds Leaders:
Luis Irueta - 12 rebounds
Eric García - 9 rebounds
Dellan Mosqueda - 5 rebounds

Assists Leaders:
Manny Emil Ricamona - 4 assists
Dellan Mosqueda - 3 assists

Philippines U21 ends U21 campaign on a sour note, misses bus to the World Cup (77616)

Victoria, Hong Kong -- It was a tight battle to begin the barrage festivities. Germany U21 and Philippines U21 were pretty close as they ended the first half, 36-35, with the Germans having a sliver of an advantage. But things went awry for the Filipinos to begin the third quarter. The Germans pulled away, and at the same time, not allowing their opponents to score until the 7-minute mark of the third quarter. The lead ballooned to as much as 13 points, 54-41.

The Filipinos tried their best to crawl back, and reduced the lead by as much as 3 points, but Germany U21 doused any comeback efforts by the Filipinos to secure a very important win, 82-68. With this win, Germany U21 stamped their class, and also stamped their tickets to the World Cup, while Philippines U21 will spend next season in the Consolation tournament, yet again.

For Germany U21, 3 players secured double-doubles including Stephan Ubisch (20 points, 11 rebounds), Henrik Heßloch (12 points and 11 rebounds) and Raimond Dobschütz (11 points and 10 rebounds). Gernot Wella and Moritz Badynski each scored 10 points.

For Philippines U21, Saturnino Samara led the team in scoring with 21 points, while Dellan Mosqueda chipped in 12 points. They are the only double digit scorers on the team. The Filipinos were held to just 28.7% field goal shooting. "Back to the drawing board, again", Coach Leo said in the post-game. To end the interview, he said that he'll start scouting prospects again for the next cycles, and hopefully get his breakthrough season; his first world cup stint.

Saturnino Samara - 21 points
Dellan Mosqueda - 12 points
Alan Clifford Pore - 8 points
Solomon de la Serna - 8 points

Rebounds Leaders:
Luis Irueta - 12 rebounds

Bittersweet ending to our campaign... we'll get back at them, again...

Can't stress enough the appreciation to those managers who trained their players and kept their player/s in tip-top shape...

Now, for next season, I mentioned this already, but we'll start scouting prospects starting tomorrow. We'll deal with the 20 year olds (soon-to-be 21 year olds) first.

Regarding the draftees, just a reminder, if you can't train them, sell them immediately. Sayang oras na sana nakapagstart na sila magtrain, sayang pera din dahil mas malaki ang halaga nyan compared kapag binenta nyo yan late na hndi natrain ng maayos.

To those who will be training, I encourage you to make use of the training guide and simulator. Here are the links:

Training Simulator: https://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thr...

Any questions regarding training and stuff, kindly mail me here.

Again, thank you for the support. Salamats!

Philippines U21 starts Consolation Tourney with a bang, outlasts Iran U21 (78048)

Tehran, Iran -- Iran U21 came into the game very prepared for Philippines U21's fast attack, and kept themselves within striking distance in the first two quarters. In the end, the Filipinos' firepower was too much for the Iranians and gave them no chance to stage a come back, 111-95.

A total of 6 players scored in double-digits to spearhead the Philippines U21's balanced attack. Lamberto Juliano's double-double powered the Filipinos, with 23 points and 12 rebounds, and lead them in scoring. He also made 11 out of 14 attempts. Jan-Jan "Bigyan ng Bola" Revillame also collected a double-double with 17 points and 10 assists. Ken "The Provider" Provido provided 15 points, as well as Benedict John "BJ" Rizal off the bench.

The starting big duo of Mikaeil Asemani (22 points, 15 rebounds) and Farnoud Sharifinia (17 points, 10 rebounds) also registered double-doubles of their own. Philippines U21 overpowers Shqipëria U21 for Wire-to-Wire Win (78078)

Manila, Philippines -- As expected by many basketball pundits, the 20th-ranked Philippines U21 ran past the 73rd-ranked Shqipëria (Albania) U21 squad without much resistance, 120-89. The Filipinos' offense was relentless, but efficient, as they shot 43 of 86, 50%, in all areas. Their defense was relentless in the first half, as Shqipëria U21 only scored 26 points within that period. It was a different story in the latter half, as the Fiipinos seemed to relax and allowed Shqipëria U21 to score 30 points in the third quarter alone, and 33 points in the fourth.

Similar to their first game versus Iran U21, 6 players scored in double figures in this game. Once again, Lamberto Juliano led the Filipinos in scoring with 24 points, this time coming off the bench. Gabino Cabello scored 21 points, followed by Ken Provido, who provided 20 points. Robinson Genetia's double-double effort of 11 points and 11 rebounds won't go unnoticed, while Nicasio Luiz hauled 14 rebounds and did the Mutombo finger-wag 5 times. The duo of Jan-Jan Revillame and Osbaldo Peñano were instrumental in steering the ship for Philippines U21, as they shared the rock 6 times each.

On the other side, Dijemir Abdurrahmani led the Albanian side with 21 points, followed by Valdet Çoniku with 17 points, and Lurtim Gacaferri with 16 points. No one hit the double-digits in rebounding for Shqipëria U21 as their bigs were heavily outmatched in this game, which led to a 39-58 disparity in total rebounds.

Next on Philippines U21 calendar will be a road game versus Luxembourg U21, which will be held on 21st of January, 2:30AM (Manila time). Please continue to support our National Teams!

Points Leaders:
Lamberto Juliano - 24 points
Gabino Cabello - 21 points
