It was a scrimmage rather than league game but this game between us last year was pretty cool.

https://buzzerbeater.com/match/135170041/boxscore.aspx

My Guy Luque was one assist away from a triple double with 12 rebounds and 10 blocks.

Largely as it was a scrimmage I hadn't actually noticed he got 10 of the 11 total team blocks!

I guess being likely a top 5 blocker and a top 5 rebounder in the division makes Luque the likely favourite to do a triple-double arguably the hardest way (assists, rebounds, blocks) if he continues to pass instead of shoot and if anyone ever can.

Bad beat of the night is Skytturnar losing by 17 to Dropito despite 10 more game rating and 2.2 higher average player rating. A missed game day preperation likely cost them and playing "take it easy" into a "crunch time" compounded that and after losing the 1st quarter 40-14 their fate was all but sealed.

My 1st part-season I was 13-0 against everyone else, and 0-2 against Santa Booker so tonight's game was of special interest to me now they are a conference rival again. No happy ending though as I end up 0-3 vs. Santa Booker after a 103-111 loss. The stats basically make it look like we are the 2 Spidermen pointing at each other meme (judge for yourself - https://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/136183166/boxscore.aspx so I suspect whatever home advantage there is in the match engine did for me. That means I run out of excuses if he does it again at my Arena on 16th September!

As before Italics for Big 8 conference teams, Bold for Great 8 conference teams and if you see any errors then let me know.

Some oddball games and results tonight.

Revolta Culé, B.C correctly double predicted Rocalux clearly intending to run up some stats and while the score of 164-31 was a beatdown, forcing 62 turnovers with 53 by steals and winning assists 50-4 being some of the wildest team statlines I've seen!

Glasgow Blue Jays beat Celestia BC with a heartbreaker buzzerbeater 3 from Anton Petrescu.

Chicago Bulbs II put out a team with the highest game rating of the night (largely due to having sensational team ODef and prolific IDef) and Skytturnar (a team with a realistic promotion hope) were held to 52 points and .173 shooting and lost by 63 which can't have happened to them for quite a while.

In almost the opposite situation Bibby Brotherhood and Raging Seagull decided to hold their own All-Star game with 325 combined points (II.2 record maybe?) and combined .581 shooting, Raging Seagull winning out by 170-155. Hope you bet the over!

Lastly, Glasgow Raptors had 9 higher team game rating, 1.7 higher average player rating, and 8 more rebounds too, but Locomotive Edinburgh slew the traditional II.2 Great 8 dragon for the 1st time by 121-102. Bak and Garnett having off-nights the same night for the Raptors (combined 15-56 shooting) seems to have been the key to the result.

As before Italics for Big 8 conference teams, Bold for Great 8 conference teams and if you see any errors then let me know.

Relatively more normal results tonight, but still a bad beat and a statistical anomaly.

Chicago Bulbs II's 125-33 defeat of Rocalux may have looked as you would have expected it to go, except this game was 88-6 at the end of the 3rd quarter! Only garbage time made the scoreline look as normal as it was.

The bad beat was Glasgow Blue Jays' 80-84 defeat by Dropito. 25 higher game rating, 3.7 higher average player rating, but played "Take It Easy" into a "Crunch Time" and allowed 13 more FT attempts which Dropito went 21-27 at which was enough fot the Andorrans to win it.

As before Italics for Big 8 conference teams, Bold for Great 8 conference teams and if you see any errors then let me know.

I have never seen a bad beat quite like this one. As always i will congratulate my opponent on a hard fought win but this match was hard to take. This must be less than 5% probability that the opponent wins this match.

I haven´t checked, but I think I had to take part in the club record in the cup.
I don´t remember a tournament game before without extra time where 287 points were scored! Special against a good team.

Hmmmmm, I was trying, after the Cup game, to find the results records of the club.

Then I saw an interesting thing! This season is the 65th season of the club! Sad that we don´t celebrate that in the 1 division!

Considering the worst bad beats of the season for this division (yours and Skytturnar's) were both against Dropito and both were after playing a "take it easy" into their "crunch time", moral of the story seems to be "Don't play take it easy against Dropito" and you can be sure I will play at least a normal on 16/08 for all the good it will likely do!

The most recent one with more points and no overtime in the cup I remember is this https://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/134981007/boxscore.aspx from last season's tournament quarter final but that was 2 teams playing Run & Gun against each other. Glasgow Raptors were 149/15.1 against the Red Hammers' 136/14.6 but this was one of those games where Full Court Press actually worked as the Raptors gave up 26 turnovers to 7 which could easily explain a 12 point swing on its own!

And since Barcelona Dragons are such a well established team, I had to go way WAY back to find the last time someone hung 160 on them in any game which was this https://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/102776186/boxscore.aspx from season 43 division II.3 when I suspect that the metas were somewhat different to now looking at the outside defensive ratings!

One thing to add, which I forgot. I played normally, but they crunch.
And there is a problem with the strategy. The league and cup is strong, very few "expected" wins to take a risk.

I build, and have always does, my team up from training. Meaning I are always with 6 guards getting their training. And it can be tricky to choose how and when to take risk as I don´t give discount on it.

I am a former coach and player in other sports in the meat words, and I have never liked the strange rules in basketball (but stress that has changed here in Iceland in a better way) to buy players just for the finals. Team is built from to play as a teams.
So even though it is not the meat world and I always play online games as I would in the meat world. Would not have like games, and have even stop playing some where it is not possible, if I wouldn´t act like that.

This game has changed a lot with both pros and cons. At the start, I had 15 players who could all play in tournament games, but it is not possible now. So you need to setup weaker teams in many games and there is the tricky thing about strategy.

I have, I think, found out way to reduce the salary, even so they are too high, but have the team stronger on same time. This season is a test about it but I will developed the team in that direction if things will developed as they has done.

But the problem with depeloped own player is that the TL don´t works at all! So the reason I do it is to have always players ready when the key is to old.
