Also could be to encourage people to put a proper price on their players rather then starting them at minimum?

if you like to bid more, you can bid from 1000 to 100000 wwith threee bids ;)

I won't say that this stops yyou to make approciate bids at the beginning.

as promised I tried to find out what and why it was:

There is now a temporary maximum allowed bid equal to 10 times the current bid (minus one)

that was my initial tought, but then I saw a player with a bid of 1000, who had 100k as max current bid, so I got confused.
but this
Also, the max bid never goes below 100,000

explained it.

both quoted statements here are correct and come directly from a BB.

the reason they implemented it is to avoid accidental overbidding by typing a number to much.

They also removed the text (yet the error message when you bid to high in 1 time stays) to avoid the confusion we now experience.

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

Maybe it is to keep people from making a mistake and typing and extra zero at the end?

This, my friend, is correct.

sorry, find it a very dumb rule. If a player is 1 million and you add by accident another 0, it will still allow you to buy the player in question. Still a 9 million costly misstake...

No, it does not:

There is now a temporary maximum allowed bid equal to 10 times the current bid (minus one)
