Google analytics: http://www.google.com/analytics/

Basically it tracks where users come from (what search engine, cost-per-click advertising, website link etc.) and what pages they visit. I don't believe it installs any software/spyware on the users computer.

Tons of sites on the web use it to evaluate their online marketing efforts.

Exactly, but it is not only used to evaluate you online marketing efforts, but also to evaluate how people click on your side. For instance, you can use it to learn which pages are working as supposed, and which are not (i.e. learn how to improve the site).

Well, I don't know. Tons of sites use it but today, while on the BB forum i got the message from Symantec that this file has been corrupted. On my company pc.

cmdow.exe in system32 folder

It has not happened to me in years.

If it is supposed to be normal, then it is ok with me. If not it worries me a bit.

I had an instance where symantec found a virus, while on my company computer. Only sites i had visited were travian and buzzerbeater. After corporate ran a virus scan, nothing was found though. I am also curious about what this goggle analytics is doing. I have never had a problem on the company computer until this instance.
Makes you wonder.

When I start up my computer, there is some error message. If I click on a new link on this site (say to view my roster or view my economy), a new window pops up which is for various kinds of sites (it changes every time).

I just want to warn other people. I did not click on any ads while I was using the match viewer, but none of this happened until immediately after the match viewer froze on me.

I liked this game, but I'm going to have to vacate my team.

It sounds like your browser has been hijacked by spyware. BB doesn't install anything on your computer, the only thing you need other than a browser is the adobe flash player, which is also virus and spyware free ( assuming you download and install it from the adobe site ).

I recommend you use Ad-Aware and check to see what the problem is ( (http://lavasoft.com/) ). Choose Ad-Aware free and install that. That usually gets most common hijacks and spyware.

The google-analytics link is used to gain aggregate information about the browsers people use on the site and how they browse the game. We store no personal information about browsing habits and don't profile any users. The information is solely useful for us to help improve the site browsing experience and pinpoint usuability issues.

We wouldn't use anything on the site that we're no comfortable with ourselves. The dev team are users as well, and we don't want spyware on our computers, so there's no reason for us to do it to anyone using the site. Pissing off our users is not something we would do - it's not in our interest.

I'll second the advice of using Ad-Aware.

as someone said, layoff the porn sites or any free non pay sites where you get to download anything on the net that are not affiliated with known or customer seeking ads.

try looking for www.downloads.com ( im sure this site does not have those spyware but choose what you download )

and download this items,
1. winpatrol - this thing guards your system processes and notifies you on what software wishes to run in your system and if you would allow it. this is good it helps you block those unwanted programs in your pc.

2. a squared free - this is a anti spyware and adware and detects trojans in your pc. ( i combo it with ad aware )

3. a squared hi-jack free - this works to check what runs in your system, even though you have winpatrol have this along with it so you can control what running in your system by killing the process.

4. avg - for me the best free anti virus out there

5. arswp - anti rogue sweeper, the best sweeper. it searches the deepest of what can be remove like trojans, viruses and unwanted programs . . .

try this and probably your pc would be a almost healthy as good,
