i'll put it this way.
say you've got those 20-skill gods like you say. as long as the starters GS is ok, then they could be used as a back up. however, if the guy who is usually the starter, doesn't have a good GS that week, and the back up guy has great, then you've got a problem, cause either you set a starter with no Stamina, or you set a starter with bad gameshape.
it might be harse, but what i try to do select players, is that each of those players should be able to have the starting position. Injuries and sometimes bad gameshape occure ( sometimes, a player gets injured, and that causes the back up to play 90 or more minutes) then you need alternatives. so each player that i select on the NT, i want to be sure that i can use him, regardless the circumstances.
ofcourse, your usuall starters need GS, but sometimes, the starters are the back up players and sometimes, the back up are starters due to GS. so for that reason, lvl 5 stamina is really not asking to much.
Stamina trains fast, and during the season, you could easely do 3 to 4 weeks of stamina ( Allstar break + Post/off-season). so asking for lvl 5 stamina is really not alot. i understand the way you are thinking, but i hope you can understand my point aswell. selecting a player just to be a back-up is in my eyes a waste of a rosterspot. if during the season, the stamina goes down, then it's hard to ask the mamanger to take it up a lvl right away. but during allstar break and post/off season, you'll be wanting to play your best team on each position,, without wanting to worry about the minutes for normal training. so their, ST training is a logical thing. ( or FT training, tho i find ST more important than FT lvl)
