For some reason I thought what u wrote was from the gf loss for us but now I remember. What a finals series for Sydney that was!

You're playing St Kilda this week, of course Scott Watters is going to say that, it's standard crap from the opposition coach before the game.

Cotchin is not elite. Not yet, anyway. I'm not saying he won't be, but he simply isn't in the class of Ablett, Pendlebury, Swan, Judd, Mitchell and Selwood.

Sure, the Richmond midfield is good. I never said it wasn't. It's not 'great' just yet though, at least not on a consistent enough basis to make the finals. Collingwood, Geelong, Carlton, WCE and Essendon all have elite midfields and so far they're 0-5 against them. When they start beating teams like this on a consistent basis, then they will be considered a 'great' midfield.

Jack Riewoldt could quite possible win the Coleman again, but that doesn't mean they will make the finals. Where did you finish last time he won it? At the moment he's too much of a sook. As soon as he doesn't get the ball delivered exactly where he wants it, he sooks and his effort is non-existent. Too much standing around when he doesn't get the ball, not enough chasing, tackling, winning the ball or applying pressure.

The back line is very young and still get pushed around a bit. That's not their fault, and I'm sure they will get bigger and stronger as they get older, but at the moment the inexperience down back can be a problem.

Let's look at their remaining matches:

St K - lose
Freo (H) - win
GWS - win
Adel (A) - lose
Melb - win
GC (A) - win
NM - 50/50
Carl - lose
Bris (A) - 50/50
WB - 50/50
Freo (A) - lose
Ess - lose
Port (H) - win

I'll give you a guaranteed 5 wins, plus 1 more from the 3 50/50 wins for a total of 6. They already have 4 wins, so that makes a total of 10. Considering the number of 'easy wins' that are out there this season, it might take 12 wins to sneak into the Top 8, so they'll need to find another 2 wins out of the remaining 50/50 or 'lose' games.

Lastly, and I mentioned this earlier, they're currently in 10th, which means 2 teams need to fall below them for Richmond to make the Top 8. Which 2 of those 9 teams do you think will fall below the Tigers?

swap the two freo games and the equation stays the same.

you all have jumped the gun on adelaide imo.

you flogged geelong, carlton, GWS and Gold Coast.

really does that justify the status of being top 2 material??

Don't know about Top 2, but Top 4 is definitely a possibility when you look at their remaining games. They have one of the more softer draws of the Top 8 teams.

I think most of those games you have as 50/50 are probably more like 75/25 to Richmond (at worst) - Brisbane and the Bulldogs are rubbish, and North isn't going much better...

I'd also think the Saints game is 50/50 (certaintly not a guaranteed loss). And they are a sneaky chance against Carlton, though I'd probably pencil that in as a loss atm.

So with that, I could see them getting 12-13 - but I guess they could just as easily miss.

Agreed Matt(Yes, another Tiger fan). The tigers midfield still needs to prove one thing above all, consistency... Cotchin I believe is the real deal, good to see him start a season reasonably fit for once, it shows. Look the tigers are looking very promising and it's hard not to get excited but long time Richmond fans(mysef, way to old) know all to well what can happen to a promising tigers team. To be honest I think one man has made a huge difference this year and what a bargain. The name, Ivan Maric. He has been a revolution for the tigers in the ruck and has won nearly all the duels to date or at least competed very well. Thanks to Adelaide for letting him go! Good to see a lively AFL discussion.

Cotchin is awesome but not elite yet. He is part of that growing group who atm seem to show a ton of belief at that club.

The midfielder that has become elite this year is Brent Stanton. Bombers have the best midfield IMO. I'm a Swans man but watched us go down to the Saints last week at Etihad with Molly sitting two rows behind me cheering

I'd love to see the Tigers become a consistent team, its about time footy needs it!

Um... yes? These two were two of the premiership favourites!

Here's the thing though - a lot of people had us in the top 8 assuming we'd lose 5/5 in this block. We've won 3/4 and should win this one... 4/5. That's not exactly jumping the gun - we have the softest draw!

I'm not saying we're one of the two best teams, which is why I don't think we'll win the flag. But we're a good team with an amazingly good draw - that equates to definite top 4, probable top 2.
