Explain how he is full of himself? (Other than 'The Decision', which he was paid the price for.)

The press conference when he left

Well I would say nicknaming yourself King James and having Chosen 1 tattooed across your back (since high school apparently) indicates someone who is a little full of himself...

I honestly don't know why it's such a bad thing to be cocky and full of confidence.
Why does everyone hate tall poppy syndrome?

Good on him for thinking he is awesome, it's that self love and confidence that allows him to be the best player in the NBA.

people are always going to hate on someone like that, not only is he successful, which most people are just flat out jealous of but he confident and recognises his own talent which apparently just makes you a cocky bastard?

Apparently it's ok to be the best at something, as long as you never admit it.

Frankly I'm bored of all the superstar athletes who time and time again play down their own performance or achievements and say crap like "i just play my role" "i was lucky" "the team blah blah "

LONG LIVE KING JAMES THE CHOSEN 1... lol

Ive been watching a bit of the media coverage of late of the NBA.

i liken the media, to a bit like reality TV. You know how some people walk out of a reality TV show and they realise that they have been painted as a villian?

LIke, what show was it recently.... i dunno i dont watch TV. some cooking show or something.

anyways they get evicted and its like 'WTF? I wasnt like that? The show just edited everything i said to make me look that way"

i reckon the media does it with Lebron.. Notice how EVERY single photo of him post-finals, is that smug look of his? that 'haHA, look at me. yey! "... never any photos of, him with his team, or mouth open with excitement or fist pumping or kissing babies... no all we get to see are photos of LeSmug James.

which i think is unfair, because unless he is having like, botox all the time, no one has the same expression on their face all the time.

so yer i think the media paint him out to be this arrogent tool as well, which im sure in real life, he probably isnt nearly as much.

I actually agree with you - I was just mentioning some things that may cause a person to think he is an arrogant prick as the question was posed as to why he is regarded as such. I would imagine to reach the heights of any sport you have to be full of confidence or you would just never get there.

Anyway I have mentioned this to some buddies before - I don't really understand why I don't like him - he is a magnificant basketball player and as alluded to earlier in the thread he has moved on from some of the antics of his youth.

I know when MJ was winning all those titles and was the best player in the NBA I was a huge fan and from all accounts he was/is a pretty major douche - and LeBron is the one player (of the current crop of players) that may be able to best MJ in the talk for the best ever. I am for the most part a logical person (I am a computer programmer) so I should be a huge fan of him like I was MJ but I just don't like him.

Can't like everyone I suppose...and I imagine LeBron doesn't lose too much sleep over whether I like him or not :P

Well I think I know why... because, you, like so many others (myself included) love the legacy of Michael Jordan so much that we don't want some little upstart like LeBron to take that mantle. So your hatred of Lebron is actually out of LOVE for MJ.

Well that's all the time we have for this session...

ALSO "I want to be like Lebron" just doesn't have the same ring to "I want to be like Mike!" does it. :P
