I say cleverness of a manager or a strength of a team is relatively the same. A strength of a team is usually a result of clever planning, strategy and tactics.
When you say "SMART", I just assume you are the 300 spartans while I am Xerxes. The 300 Spartan were considered to have god-like strength because they were able to hold of army of thousands with their puny army. What people did not consider is their tactics such as choke point, their defensive formations, and rounded shields. These are the key point of their strength.
Though, sadly, after slaying thousands, they themselves could not stand up against the brute strength of Xerxes but you got the point hahaha
