There have been so many posts around this now, my question is:

Do any of the candidates intend on revitalising the offsite forum? I don't care about the mentoring of teams (but i do about players), but something along the lines of a promotional thread with a link to the latest newspost/thread where a discussion is taking place would be good.

The offsite forum died because no one promoted it, making it easy access with a clickable link.

"Tactics up on offsite forum" doesn't cut it in my opinion.

Ezlife I know doesn't meet this criteria. I know where Mr Green stands on the issue, while I disagree with it, at least it is better than anything else we have heard.

Were any candidates committed to involvement of the entire community? Or just the paying customers?

Apologies if it was covered, but I have forgotten due to excessive reading of posts in here.

Edit
Derp Mickyster wants offsite forum. Thanks.

I think the main thing is we both want the same thing and just see different ways of getting there.

I think getting the mentor program up and running again will get these coaches who are fringe of involvement (that would be most of them) onto the forum i they are keen to learn and make them keen to train for the 21 NT. If we can find 20 more coaches and help them train 18 year olds each year we will have a much stronger side from a stronger player pool to pick from.

The system Iwen put in is great and we need to give coaches goals for each season of training for 18, 19 and then when they are 20 let them know how their player can be used and focus their training into the teams needs.
Just think if we had 4 or 5 sfs at 20 looking good and we could make them all a little different. Things like IS focused, Def focused and outside focused. Then the manager could pick the guy who best suits the teams needs that game,

Also the forum/federation is a great tool to keep track of GS and allow manager to see the effect of the player playing mins each week.

Whoever wins I am hoping we can work together to reach the goal we both want greatly.

I think if the information was there, people would come. Why dont you go there now? Because s23 is lost and no new info is there. The lazy 2nd site is just an excuse. I can get there in 1 click. Its not hard.

If i was to say all the new u21 teams skills were on there to see, and current, I know of atleast 10 managers i could have told " Go visit the offsite forum, its here:........, you can see the current standard there, and this is why player x is in the team and yours isnt. That is valuable info that would raise the standard of aussie trainees as a whole, not to mention capture new managers to discuss future training, discuss elastic effects etc.

Instead I gave them the whole "Im not the u21 manager so cant comment, but I like his OD, his JS is weaker than the other SGs ive seen" conservative spurl.

About 100 posts ago people were saying what Aussie Cricket players they were. I am certainly Damien Fleming. When I went to India in 2000 people used to come up to me in the street and say "Fleming". I think I also used to have his temprament.

I would hate to see the offsite forums with all their data and resources abandoned but they have been a ghost town and there is little incentive to post there when you feel like no-one except Whitewind will ever read your posts.

I think I have made a fair contribution but there was really nothing happening last season and I would log on once a week, see no new posts then not log on for two weeks.

Okay I dont mean to sound rude or inconsiderate, but what are the downfalls to an offsite? You have to go to a different site? Is that really the issue? If people really have the commitment to log into this website, then I think they dont mind opening another tab especially if the site is promoted properly and the forums are littered with links. Then it is literally a click away. Also for the record, the English Communities United has a tracking thread and HoF thread that is private for each nation.
I know I seem biased because im trying to get Australia to join, but im also not bringing up any lies or exaggerations.

Now, in order not to hijack this great debate thread ill have a go at the candidates.

I see you all, mainly Mr. Green, preaching roster variety and secondaries. It sounds like youre running for the NT! At the U21 level you cant expect secondaries and such. The U21 world is a primary world. It is dominated by teams with players that are primary focused. They way I believe a U21 should be run is this. Any player with Perennial Allstar or lower potential gets trained solely on primaries in order to prepare them for the U21, MVP+ gets trained in secondaries, the long way in order to prepare them for the NT.

If you preach getting variety and secondaries youll get beat by teams that focus on primaries. So basically, agree or disagree with me? Or how will you request players get trained?

Also, whos your favourite Canadian BB manager?

Of the 16 people who have voted, 14 believe we need a new Federation! Surely this ends the debate about the revitalisation of the offsite forum!?

Given a federation will exclude non-supporters and people already with 5 feds, I still don't see how a solution that we know excludes managers can be a good one. Popular decisions don't always equal a good decision.

Of course for 21 NT you want guys with main skills a big focus. I have spoken about focusing some players more in one direction. For example it would be great to have a G with very high OD and a bit lower in JS/JR and passing you could bring in if a team had a gun G to shut him down. Just as one example. He would still needs skills in the other areas but lose a bit in some for more in an other.

So Flemo

Would you be willing to be a mentor if the system was up and running again?

Regardless of if I win or not I am keen to ensure the system is back up and running. I see it being a 3 levels.
1. For new guys to get them the basics in training and finance (we would have a lots of guys who could do this)
2. For guys who have the basics and need a bit more to move up the leagues.
3. Guys wanting that little bit more to have a plan to try and make the ABBL.

Don't get it wrong, I mean, people like you are awesome for new managers.

It just makes me wonder... what are we voting for? A guy that can coach a team, or a guy who is willing to get people involved and help them out (something you can do wether you get the NT job or not)?

Why are we even questionning this?

I'll give you my definition of a NT manager, even if nobody cares :p
- set the line up
- select the worthy players
- save the high potential and talented ones from going bot
- let people know about the skills of the NT players
- discuss the tactics if someone is interested

Anything else you do that is not on that list is because you're a cool guy. Now if you're a cool guy because you got elected is another question.

[I hope I didn't forget anything on that list or I'll get shot in the next post :D]

I think you have a very limited view of the role. It is also important to ensure that there are more good players worthy of being selected. If one in the role only cares about their 2 year term and fails to take a longer term view we will never become a stronger nation.

As a matter of fact, this is not up to the NT manager but to the regular team managers themselves. You'll be extremely upset if you think you can change their mind.

Not to mention you should arguably advise the new managers to do what's NOT good for the U21 NT: since they play in a lower division, they cannot afford high salaries. Thus you should tell them to train secondaries so they can keep their star player on a long term and not lose interest in the game. Otherwise, all the talented players go to the upper division where the managers can carry on training them and pay them. Then the small market teams will most likely go bot.
