Come on ned, step trading could almost make up that 400k difference!! Don't tell me you've lost it!!

If only I had started to do that when you started I won dozen BBB :D

:D

I still reckon a Japanese team will lift the BBB again before an Italian team... fancy a wager?!

No no, I want to save my money, we can change Japanese with Barbados?
I need to sleep, tomorrow I've to work and I cannot choice to arrive in the 5th place :(

The only reason I don't have the Barbados flag is I'm scared that the IP address will reveal a link to my Japanese team... don't tell me you are the other team!! How about we alternate BB3 titles once we hit $50mil...

PS. How close are you?? Do you want to go first?

:D

If teams decide to lose games in order to finish 5th instead of 3rd or 4th, that's solely because they fail to plan their economy further than two weeks and only look at the short term, instead of planning your cashflows longterm just as basically every other strategy like training. As a manager, I'd be happy to see my surrounding teams make bad choices and give me the 3rd or 4th spot in order to finish 5th. Maybe I'd even be able to win a title once then!

Having a short term strategy can be a legit way to reach your goals... If your team is ranked 4th and you made a big aquisition to be competitive in the playoffs and suddenly get unlucky and two of your key players get hurt, 5th place might be a very lucrative option to save you loads of money.

I somehow miss the proof that finishing 4th and getting a part of your expenses refunded +1 training game is financially better than freerolling the offseason and finishing fifth.

Do you REALLY believe that this was the best way to fix the issue of 5th position?

This is economical situation is my league:
League Average Net Income: $ 14 078
(I personally have a negative net income of 39k)

During the 2 weeks without salary this is what will happen to the team classified 5th (assuming for him the average merchandise, staff salary and scouting):
Staff Salaries: $ 45 234
Merchandise: $ 56 399
Scouting: $ 9 687
TV Contract: $ 138 482
Net income in the two weeks without games: $ 139 960.

Unless I am missing something here, how can that be reasonable?
Ok, the TV contract will be slightly smaller, but if you don't pay salaries when you don't have official games why should you receive TV contract when you don't have official games?

A further suggestion: the salary suppression should only be valid for players already in the team BEFORE the PO transfer deadline, not for those bought afterwords.

What about the idea of Gate Receipts for the entire league being divided up per win?

This would encourage 22-0 at the top even when 18-4 would be good enough and it would mean that the competition for 3/4/5/6 would remain fierce as you win a larger part of the pie per win irrespective of finishing position. If you add benefits in to teams due to promote this sounds like a great solution AND one that will reward the relative strength (and penalise the relative weakness) of large and small country communities.

I'm not sure to understand what you said, but where is the incentive to build up a big arena if you have 15 others teams to do this at your place ? Rather than invest in arena, everyone will invest in players waiting the money coming from other's arena.

Or your division is not for all season's game, but a part that you did'nt define like PO/Pdown game ?

the arena income also comes in the regular season, so that a bigger arena could mean more money. Especially because many team already don't have hc games in die off season, or just one. Even when i don't like this idea that much too, but i cann't say why ;)

I can see where there might be cases where losing on purpose can be financially beneficial, but also many cases where it wont be. If losing one game drops you to 5th, and you had no way of winning your first playoff game. However what if you have to lose your last 3 or 4? Is it still financially sound to lose? How much gate revenue will you lose for having a bad fan survey? As the first place team I recently lost to the 4th place team on the road and the next home game my attendance dropped about 18%, that is a lot of lost revenue for just one road loss, what happens when you lose 3 on purpose? how much will those three tanked losses cost you in next season's 11 home games? It will be different for everyone of course, but its a factor that all of the 'haters' just keep skipping over, maybe because it diminishes their argument?

If you only need to tank 1 game to drop from 4th to 5th, dont you think the 5th place team might tank too just to maintain 5th? Or are you the only smart one in your series? Then you tanked, lost attendance next season, and still payed your PO salary the first week.

I invite anyone to tank their way to fifth place. The rest of my league taking note of this? Remember tanking to fifth is a GOOD IDEA.
