Swimming is on the books for me next month. Physio said i'll be in the clear in April.

Just in time for my cruise to Vanuatu Islands in May with the "soon-to-be" Mrs.

I've heard a little about the tough mudder and am curious as to what exactly it entails, Bainsy?

@ Leeroy, congrats mate...and, yeah, sounds like a nice holiday destination.

Love it! AWESOME! You have to let me know every detail once you've done it, Bainsy. Looks like you got in before it sold out there in Melbourne. I noticed they've got it in Sydney. Now that I have seen that I HAVE TO do it! Don't know when or where but I'm going to do it. Maybe they'll do a Perth event sometime soon. If not, I might have to look at traveling next year. This year is about getting back into fitness. Next year maybe I'll have a crack at that. Thanks, bainsy.

should be good. i dont think the 1 month is enough to get me to the benchmark, but at least it gives me something to strive for, as weight has never really been a problem, thus never had a real big motivator.

it is going to a bloody tough event.

@kilrtom - i think i recall you saying that you used to be a personal trainer so i have a question.

should you stretch after doing exercise? i thnk i recall someone saying you shouldnt, as when you exercise you gets micro-tears in your muscles, and when you stretch that muscle after exercise you worsen the micro-tears and risk injury. was wondering if you knew anything about that.

cheers bainsy

i am no expert, but i have always been told stretch before exercise, and then do a cool down after exercise.. so if you go for a 5k run or something, do a 500m-1k walk or something after to stretch it out and help muscles go back into place, dont just go to a complete stop!

i am still losing weight, even tho not exercising.. i hope it is fat and not muscle :D

tough mudder would literally kill me

I rarely stretch after exercise, but I know that when I do, I have less muscle soreness the next day etc.

when I train Muay Thai, my trainers normally make us do a 10 minute intense warm up, then stretch, then work out, then warm down, then stretch.
then most importantly EAT EAT EAT.... and rest. :P

interesting... there seems to be two different strains of thought on the matter.
