Buckner Bandits Weekly Update – Week of May 10–16, 2025
Record: 10–2 | Great 8 Standing: 1st (Tied with Vipers)
The Buckner Bandits split their two games this week, going 1–1 in a stretch that featured a major high and a reality check. The team now holds a 10-2 record, but the race at the top is tightening fast. The Vipers have caught up, and the Bandits are clinging to first place by a razor-thin margin. With several weeks left, the pressure is officially on.
🏀 Game Recaps
W vs R3AP3RS (128–76):
This was dominance from start to finish. The Bandits imposed their will with relentless pace, efficient scoring, and suffocating defense. Mick Hunt and Kevin Moore combined for 85 points, while Grover Patterson continued his steady interior presence.
L vs 500 Hackers (110–123):
This was a battle of heavyweights. The Bandits started strong but were outpaced late by a red-hot 500 Hackers squad. Despite big numbers from William Moore (24 pts) and Edwin Long (27 pts, 21 rebounds), defensive lapses and costly turnovers proved too much to overcome.
🌟 Player Highlights
Mick Hunt led the team in scoring again with 48 points, hitting 5 threes and attacking the rim with confidence.
Kevin Moore had one of his best all-around weeks: 37 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds on 65% shooting.
Edwin Long grabbed 21 boards, matching his intensity with strong offensive production.
William Moore was a spark on both ends, posting 24 points, 11 rebounds, and contributing defensively despite 8 turnovers.
Timothy Lawler remains a lethal shooter off the bench, knocking down 6 of 10 threes for 24 points.
⚠️ Key Notes & Looking Ahead
Turnovers were a problem in the loss—28 combined turnovers from William Moore, Edwin Long, and Paolo Polo.
Despite the setback, the team is still very much in control of its destiny.
With the Vipers surging, the Bandits must sharpen their focus. Every game from here out could decide playoff seeding.
🗣️ “We dropped a tough one, but we’re not discouraged,” said team leader Mick Hunt. “This is where we find out what we’re made of.”
Next Steps:
THe Bandits play the Big Eights 3rd ranked Orlando Tragic next and then the All Star Break. The Bandits are hopeful to land one or two players in the All Star Game, but we will have to wait and see.
