🏀 Buckner Bandits Weekly Report
Week of May 3 – May 9, 2025
Record: 2–0 (Overall: 9–1, 1st in the Great 8)

🔥 Taking Care of Business
The Buckner Bandits did exactly what was expected this week—cruising to victories over two struggling Big 8 squads. They dismantled the Saxons on the road with a 98–69 win, then followed it up with a home blowout against the Lady Tigers 901, dropping a season-high 126 points in a 52-point rout.

“We did what we were supposed to do,” said the coaching staff. “These were games we couldn’t afford to drop if we want to stay on top.”

With these wins, the Bandits remain in 1st place in the Great 8, holding a strong 9–1 record heading into a pivotal stretch.

📅 What’s Next: The Crucial Stretch
The next two weeks will test the Bandits’ mettle, as they face:

#3 seed Reapers

#1 overall team 500 Hackers

“We hope to win the next four, but if we come out with 2 wins and 2 losses, it’ll still be a successful run. Those are some good teams,” said a Bandits insider.

This stretch will reveal whether Buckner is a playoff lock or a championship contender.

📈 Player of the Week: Mick Hunt
55 MIN | 20-28 FG | 6-8 3FG | 12 AST | 9 REB | 46 PTS

Mick Hunt was in top form, lighting up defenses with his scoring, vision, and all-around leadership. He shot an incredible 71% from the field, hit six threes, and dropped a season-high 46 points in just two games. He continues to be the engine driving the Bandits' offense.

🧱 Workhorse of the Week: Greyson Tobin
48 MIN | 23 PTS | 16 REB | 8 AST | 5 BLK

Tobin filled the stat sheet with hustle plays, big rebounds, and defensive stops. His impact isn’t always flashy, but his production this week was undeniable.

Battle in the Basement

Will Garden State Royalty get their 1st win tonight, and have the Saxons join them in the double digit loser club? Freddy Sarroza has had an amazing last 2 weeks. In his last 4 games he's averaging, 36.75 PPG, 7.75 RPG, and 1.75 Steals pg. Well above his season's average of 24 PPG, 5 RPG, and 1.4 SPG. He continues rolling like that, I think the Saxons get off the snide.

Good luck, Everyone. And have a good day tomorrow with your mothers.

Mid-Season Mania!!!!

Its not every season, you get the League leaders to match up, at the halfway point. But we got it this season. 500 Hackers, will be without their double/double big man, Will Partridge. Who is out with food poisoning. Rumor has it, the Buckner Bandits pharmacist laced some edibles with Exlax. Cold, man, cold. Mike Hunt is odds on favorite to be league MVP. Average almost 1 point, per minute played, while shooting an amazing .696% from beyond 3 point stripe, on 56 shots. He's shooting better beyond the arc, then from inside the arc .629% This game should be a doozie.

Halftime, it's not looking good for the bandits.... Down 15, Hunt is just 1-5 from outside. Hackers defense is to good ... Will see how the second half turns out. :-)

Buckner Bandits Weekly Update – Week of May 10–16, 2025

Record: 10–2 | Great 8 Standing: 1st (Tied with Vipers)

The Buckner Bandits split their two games this week, going 1–1 in a stretch that featured a major high and a reality check. The team now holds a 10-2 record, but the race at the top is tightening fast. The Vipers have caught up, and the Bandits are clinging to first place by a razor-thin margin. With several weeks left, the pressure is officially on.

🏀 Game Recaps
W vs R3AP3RS (128–76):
This was dominance from start to finish. The Bandits imposed their will with relentless pace, efficient scoring, and suffocating defense. Mick Hunt and Kevin Moore combined for 85 points, while Grover Patterson continued his steady interior presence.

L vs 500 Hackers (110–123):
This was a battle of heavyweights. The Bandits started strong but were outpaced late by a red-hot 500 Hackers squad. Despite big numbers from William Moore (24 pts) and Edwin Long (27 pts, 21 rebounds), defensive lapses and costly turnovers proved too much to overcome.

🌟 Player Highlights
Mick Hunt led the team in scoring again with 48 points, hitting 5 threes and attacking the rim with confidence.

Kevin Moore had one of his best all-around weeks: 37 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds on 65% shooting.

Edwin Long grabbed 21 boards, matching his intensity with strong offensive production.

William Moore was a spark on both ends, posting 24 points, 11 rebounds, and contributing defensively despite 8 turnovers.

Timothy Lawler remains a lethal shooter off the bench, knocking down 6 of 10 threes for 24 points.

⚠️ Key Notes & Looking Ahead
Turnovers were a problem in the loss—28 combined turnovers from William Moore, Edwin Long, and Paolo Polo.

Despite the setback, the team is still very much in control of its destiny.

With the Vipers surging, the Bandits must sharpen their focus. Every game from here out could decide playoff seeding.

🗣️ “We dropped a tough one, but we’re not discouraged,” said team leader Mick Hunt. “This is where we find out what we’re made of.”

Next Steps:

THe Bandits play the Big Eights 3rd ranked Orlando Tragic next and then the All Star Break. The Bandits are hopeful to land one or two players in the All Star Game, but we will have to wait and see.
