Your missing my point

Key player is perfect word for it, but i dont see them as you see them
Every team has a key player, thats what i meant

Chicago Bulls had Michael Jorden
Suns had Charles Barkely
Celtics had LArry Bird
Lakers had MAgic Johnson

In football
Barcelona have Messi
Real Madrid have a portugese so.b.

My point point, how bad it can be, is that every team, no mather what league their in have all got one key player on who the strategy is build. And i want to see that back.....

Even if that means that your player is terrible, aslong as it is your KEY player, the one from your team where you build on, then this should be reflected in the Role

Is defense taken into account? I realize its quite a bit different, at least from a GE point of view, as on defense you dont have anyone 'running' the defense, per se.

If it is offence only, it might be quite interesting indication. But I dont see the point to look at it if I dont see average played minutes at the same time. If I have to click to get that information, they are together anyway on main page of the player, therefore I couldnt see the point in indicating offences itself.

Maybe that rating could be combination of both. Like his overall offence effectivity or something.

So, then some apparent fallacies in the method:

1) he's started the one league game that mattered.
2) he's played crucial cup games
3) he's started the PO game (perhaps roles haven't updated?)

If these things don't matter, I think it'll be hard to come up with a reliable measure.

Exactly - with the fact minutes have to be spread between league (then playoffs) and cup , you will never create a yardstick of how valuable or meaningful a player is just on league minutes.

I think the feature has merit to evolve if linked with the fan survey but only if all games are taken into consideration.

Haven't read the thread, but i would like the roles to include the position of the player like: Starting SG, Backup SF, Star PF, or something like that, going by the most minutes the player has played at a certain position. I think it would help with quick scouting.

At first I thought the role's are a fun addition. While they don't really add anything useful it's fun to check whether the guy you see as your key player is actually also the key player according to these "objective" (they are objective actually, not perfect...but objective) measures.

But last time when I was checking the transfermarket I almost dismissed a player because he had "back up potential" (while it was actually an MVP). Now this might be just me being a bit stupid, but I do think that it might be harder for beginners. When looking for a trainee they have to learn that age, potential and length are important...but not player role. Especially since the potential and player role lookalike and have pretty similar terms I can see that it might be confusing.

Combined with the fact that it doesn't really add anything gamewise (it influences nothing) I'd say we save the space in the player profile for more useful things.
