This is just ridiculous. These aren't even long term moves either...

Yiorgos Aggelikos, $275k, age 33
Miguel Campaspero, $187k, age 33
Kajetan Krajza, $143k, age 31
Boriss Bronka , $115k, age 33

It's a complete travesty if Kentucky doesn't even win their own conference. Let alone DII overall.

Top 5 for Kentucky: $387k
Top 5 for RSAS: $760k (and growing)

See, this is why BB really sucks sometimes. (injuries aside). SMH...

I guess I ought to respond to this, if for no other reason than to keep our forums lively.

1- How is it a travesty if Kentucky doesn't win? I did feel like he had a better squad than me, but RSAS is the team sitting in 1st place in the Big 8, and we did it with a roster that was about 150k/week less than Kentucky. Every win came pre-upgrade except for rolling over a bot this last Saturday. So maybe we are the team that really deserves all the efficiency rah-rah "this is how BB should be played" accolades?

2- RSAS has been playing to win all season. We promoted up with a nice team, we added Campaspero 6 weeks ago, this is not tanking all year just to try to compete right before the relegation match so we can have our cake and eat it too. We have been competing all season.

3- I can't remember a season since the economy flipped where I didn't expect contenders and relegation teams to add talent as the playoffs approached. I think it is pretty standard practice now. It looks like Kentucky is possibly looking to do the same thing currently? Maybe because this forced his hand, but also maybe I just beat him to the punch? A match-up with you in the finals would provide just as much incentive to upgrade as a match-up with my restructured team. The only one who benefits from the Big 8 not making any moves is the Great 8 finals team (aka your team, probably).

4- Why are these not even long term moves? It's not a long term move to try and promote to the NBBA? I think this team (or something very close to it) is relatively sustainable in the NBBA, especially if on the promotion bonus and in the cup. Trying to get to the NBBA and entrench yourself there to reap the financial rewards sounds like a reasonable long term strategy to me.

5- I think a lot of this outrage is just sour grapes. You spent a lot of money to keep your NBBA team together all season following demotion, and now instead of being an easy one-and-done re-promotion, you may end up facing a more difficult finals either through RSAS or another retooled team out of the Big 8. Were you going to forfeit the finals to let Kentucky win since he was so deserving? Why carry the highest team salary in the league all season if it were going to be such a tragedy if you won II.3?

edit: fyi I am from Milwaukee, we could potentially duke this out (with words) over a beer sometime if you wanted, unless of course you are actually in shikago?

jfriske getting frisky!
i like it.

ehh, I've largely stopped caring about BB. I'll address #5 mostly for now, and maybe the rest when i have more time.... (I do hope you're just trolling w/ #5 too) ok, humble-brag/ heel-time ...

5-. "Sour grapes"? Sigh... Look, you couldn't be more wrong on 2 things. 1st, I clearly don't care about demotion/promotion. And haven't for a couple seasons. (as will be explained later). 2nd, money is no issue. I won't give away my exact finances, but I promoted to the NBBA with about $11 million. So that might give you a ballpark figure. I could dwarf your roster easily. Just as I could have easily bought a D1 title, if so desired. (think of something like winninguy, but twice as extreme -- RIP champion turned bot winning guy). I mean say I went out and signed a team of $300k NT guys... is that really the game you want? That just turns BB into a complete farce. And each season into an enormous waste of time for everyone.

It's one thing for a team to go out & get a missing piece. Or a team on the verge of winning it all to get an extra guy late to push them over the top. Or a team that's obviously going to promote to get players for the following season. Extreme rent-a-player, on the other hand, is just ridiculous. (literally rent-a-team in your case) . Look, minus the listed players, you'd literally have to start a $1k scrub! And no, your new players aren't long term moves either. Meaning: in a season and a half, is the core of your team really going to be a bunch of 35 year olds in severe decline? I doubt it. (1 1/2 seasons is hardly long term). If you're betting that other teams can't or don't want to play that way , it's a good move in that sense. But again, IMO, it makes for a bad game overall if that truly becomes "standard practice" in every league.

Take your bias/involvement out of it for a moment... If you can't see why at least on some level it's a shame that doing things this way trumps Kentucky's, I don't know what to say. I guess it's ultimately the game design / rules i have an issue with, FWIW. No justification by you is really needed though. Other than it's allowed, and looks to possibly benefit you. (but still sucks.)

[ok, i'll split the post here.]

Alright, successful troll is successful. Why I have the roster I do, why i demoted, etc.... : ("Why carry the highest team salary in the league all season if it were going to be such a tragedy if you won II.3?") Overly wordy reply coming.

TLDR: It's pure indifference / inaction. Nothing more. Went on hiatus for a while, didn't even bother to replace star PF unloaded way back in July, blah blah blah. Didn't care to make a single move to avoid demotion, & hardly care to make a move to influence promotion now. Roster is what it is... because it was what it was... whenever i lost interest.

Roster Overview:
This is basically my same team from my first time in D2. Have signed only 1 non-$1k scrub since October of 2011!!! And kept that player for less than 2 weeks. (23 year old MVP, FWIW). As said above, didn't even replace the back to back MVP of this very league (S16 & S17) . And sold the guy way back in July. Yeah, it's my 1st season w/ a relatively high payroll. Weird feeling. Still only have 3 players making over $39k. Only 1 making over $75k. Hardly a roster of league inappropriate players. Even with Alas, it's not like i'm doubling anyone's payroll or anything. Being $50k over another team's rotation is hardly like suddenly jumping close to $300k over the best team's starting 5 late in the season.

Demotion / Not Caring:
Look i truly didn't/don't care. Didn't even bother to schedule a single scrimmage during the entire regular season! Logged in once a week or so while still in the cup, to let people know when i'd be throwing a game out of courtesy. The cup champion intentionally dropped into relegation ($1mil payroll) so that was kind of flukey. Would have been another season or 2 otherwise. But if i didn't care enough to add a single player to avoid his team & demotion... Why would i suddenly care about promotion now? I'd probably just re-demote honestly. What you don't get is that while we may both happen to be in the same league... I'm not competing with you.

This Season
Been trying to revive my interest this season: Watched a few games live, forced myself to start posting again, etc. But it's still kind of "meh" as to my care level. Said as much to most of those that messaged me. Other than rolling out 40 year olds. That's always awesome. Learning the whole Kentucky back-story (had no clue before) was pretty damn cool. & They handled my team even with a $2k SG, Tanner at PG, and less effort! Definitely saw them winning it all. Honestly I wouldn't feel good about beating them, & would seriously consider throwing a game 3 if it came to it. Or at least make an offer to. I'm serious when i say they should win. (baring injuries).

But seriously, GL on the next level. Yeah, i may not be a fan of the method, but that's the way the game is. Fun trip down memory lane for me, boring for everyone else!

I fancy myself as the Greta Garbo / Syd Barrett / Howard Hughes of BB. Appreciate the offer, but I'll politely decline for now. For the record, I hail from Parts Unknown.

I should have made a late season push and picked up a 100K big man last season, haha. I was thinking about it too. Damn.
