What year are you living in? A lot of PF's, C's can shoot the 3 anywhere in europe. Yourself coming from lithuania should know it better than anyone. Yes there are old fashioned C's still in the game (like Howard, Shaq) etc.
Perhaps it easyer to play those onesided C's in NBA as it's more physical and more one on one type of basketball.
I give you some examples from NBA.
LA - Walton, Odom (Gasol has an awful shooting motion); Utah - Okur, Kirilenko; Portland - Aldridge, Outlaw; Houston - Ming could actually shoot when he came to NBA but his shot selection has changed until then; SAS - M.Bonner, Duncan can prolly hit behind the arc aswell; Dallas - Dirk; Den - Kleiza!!!, Martin, Nene and Andersen can hit aswell; Hornets - Peja, West; Cavs - Ilgauskas!!! (I know it's hard to know guys who refuse to help the national team); Detroit - Wallace, Prince; Atl - Smith; Miami - Beasley, Blount; Orl - Prolly the whole team can hit the 3 (except Howard:D:D:D); Philly - Marshall; Bos - Scalabrine (Garnett can actually hit from 3 aswell), Bulls - Miller, Thomas.
The list goes on and on. Basically every team has one or 2 big men who can hit from downtown. Even more so in Europe. Basically if you looked at the olympics basketball, can you say that Anthony, Lebron, Wade and Kobe can not play the PF position? Hell even Kidd could play PF.

The discussion of NBA big men who can shoot threes is getting a little too off-topic. Please address the issues in the original post directly the rest of the way.

My take: it was not the greatest choice, and I'd hope that your result doesn't happen too often. As Dr. Jàn said, rare outcomes do happen to someone every week.

And, besides, teams and players shouldn't always take the best option, if the game is meant to model human beings. Some players are going to have the game IQ of, say, PJ Brown. Maybe the game engine modelled your center as Zach Randolph for that possession. Some end-game strategies are designed by Larry Brown, some by Mike Brown.

there is big difference in percentage they can hit, if player can hit 1 from 10 from 3pt just literally means he can hit those shots.
and as author said - his C has worst JR in team, so there are no good reason why that C should make that 3pt shot instead of passing ball to someone else when there is 6 sec left.

Nobody knows . If he had a choice to shoot against an atrocios defence? I won a couple of games. My center was making the last shot - enept/enept and it was in.

I would refer everyone to this article (read the end of the diary in particular), as an example how one should think about things your buzzerbeater players do...

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/090311&sportCat=nba

if you have as much fun bitching to your friends/readers as bill simmons does complaining about Zach Randolph doing exactly what your center did (note the time, 6 seconds left), than I think you'll enjoy this game a lot more.

We are always open to suggestions and improvements, but perfect robotic basketball is not what we are going for here.. cause that would be boring and lack personality. Why don't you just nickname your center "Zach" and gleefully bitch at him everytime he misses a jump shot that he clearly shouldn't have taken (unless of course it went in, in which case he is brilliant).

“Launches a 28-foot 3-pointer with a hand in his face. His third air-balled 3 of the night. Actually, it was more than an air ball -- it almost killed the ball boy.” – priceless ! well, as you can c, these things draw attention :) and at the time, beks_ns was making a face that his coach later describes as "A face I have never seen a human being make before." Txs for great post

Yes, but if they are pitfull or mediocre, they probably won't fire the last 3 of the game in the nba. Think shaq and ben wallace would fire up that shot? Hell no, if they could not get the ball in other hands with 8 sec. left, they would take a time out or pass it in and the shooter would run around the C, get the ball and fire up a prayer. With 8 sec. left, a poor shooter would not take that shot.

If he is wide open, panicing a bit with nowhere to pass. He would take the shot in 5% of the time. Perhaps he has a low experience value and high aggressivness value. These things happen from time to time just like in real life. It's not like every shot taken in the last minute while trailing is made by a C. This time it happened, a bit unlucky, get over it!

My interest in Basketball has increased infinitely... that is such a great read and makes me want to watch the re-run of the game... (and understand some of the play terms)
