As i found my league average only spending $14.5K on scouting, i decided to spend $40K scouting per week this season, expecting to gain more information on draft.

In order to re-build my team, i am trying to secure position 6 for relagation playoff to gain gate receipt revenue. Besides i can have better chance to get potential players.

Let's see who i will get finally.

From the look of your standings you are actually 6th last on the overall standings which mean you will get the 6th pick. With 5 teams picking before you do, 40k a week is a waste as the really good players will most likely be gone by the time it gets to you.

Wait so, for a beginner like me who has missed more than half the season, is it better to spend 20K or 40K?

I myself spend 20k just because i end up in the top of my league most years i've had my team, and that gets you enough information to try to get a really good prospect in the 1st round.... And every year but 1 i have found a great prospect

My wife is trying something, she has a team in div. V and she is undefeated yet the teams keep going bot, or changing out so even though she will have the last pick in the draft she is putting 40k a week in just to see if she cant get 2-3 great prospects.

I think there could be different strategies just depending on how you are in the standings, if their are a bunch of teams going bot or not and so forth.

I didn't say such scenarios do not happen. I said they are rare especially when you are in competitive divisions with active managers.

Even if you are top of the league in a bot division 4/5 league, I wouldn't spend more than 20k for scout reports. Its just a waste of cash. You're better off taking the saved cash (you're looking at 14 week of 20k extra = 280k) and spending it on a better player. But thats just my opinion

And a valid one at that. I really didn't scout that much last year, A. i started almost 2 thirds into the season and B. just left my scouting on 20k for most of the time. Last season i got to pick 9th in my league, i drafted the best player in the entire draft.

You can spend the 480K a season to get a little extra information, but in the end i doubt it will help you in the draft, especially if you play in an active league as many other players with better draft picks with you may scout the same players.

I have dont the 20k scouting all season and i'm second in the league, obviously i'm going to get a horrible draft pick but i'm hoping that i will still be able to draft a player i want.

remember that even if you draft a good player and wish to sell him, if you've done the 40k scouting and sell him for 500k you only make 20k. Not really worth drafting him in the first place when you could have just chanced it... instead you could save the 280k, and spend it on your arena or a better player, you can get a fairly decent player for about 300k (relative to your div).

But i understand that you may want to draft THE best player in the draft and maybe if you are coming last it might be a good idea to do the 40k scouting.... But it's not really worth it IMO

I am in a league with a bunch of bots. How well do these bot teams draft? Totally random? Or do the top picks still usually get the better players?
