Now if I wanted to make some recommendations on who would benefit from a level 6 or 7 trainer, some of the following come to mind:

1) A one position trainer
2) Training U21 or NT prospects
3) Training players with really high potential and/or SF trainers

I think if you do not have points 1-3 covered, you are probably better using the money somewhere else.

Again, this really depends on your training goals.

Very dependant on your situation and what you want to accomplish. If you are training a player for a national team or u21 team or someone with really high potential that can be a great player then level 5 might be the better option, however, if you aren't training a spectacular trainee then I think a level 4 is more than enough.

one thing i am sure i read when i first started from someone important was that each increase is coach level had 50% less impact than the previous one

so if a level 3 coach could get you 6 pops
a level 4 would get you 9
a level 5 would get you 10 1/2
a level 6 would get you 11 1/4
a level 7 would get you 11 5/8

these numbers are totally made up but are based on the 50% principal and my belief that you get around 10 or 11 pops a season with a level 5 coach (excluding team training)

I have had a lv 6 trainer for about 5 seasons now and the training speed for my players is no different to the calculations for a lv 5 trainer. The one thing I have noticed is that the secondary benefits of a certain training type seem to be greater. I have no actual evidence of that and that is just my assumption based loosely on unexpected pops I have recieved over that time...

Also I am not to sure if this is common for a lv 5 trainer, but this season I trained one on one (SG/PF) and triple pops out of both my 18 and 19 year olds. But even that is not what surprised me. I also managed to get my 2 players who played C that week to get pops! My 25 year old popped in IS and my 30 year old popped in handling. Is that something that is likely to happen with a lv 5 trainer?

it is all just based on invisible sub-levels

there is no mathematical reason why you couldnt get a triple pop from a 30 year old using a level 1 trainer

it would just be incredibly unlikley

you know if you sit a monkey in front of a piano for long enough he will eventually play beethoven

Maybe you misread what I was actually saying...

The triple pops were not what I was suprised with, more the fact that 2 players who recieved training playing a position that wasn't trained that week...

And I will use your comparison as an example... If a monkey sits in front of a piano, I have no doubt he eventually will learn to play something. But if it isn't shown how to play beethoven, I would doubt very highly he will ever replicate it...

Perhaps they played 1 minute in the position being trained because the coach swapped them during a game and you didn't notice? Or perhaps they were new players thay you bought that had previously played minutes in another position?
As far as I know, you can't get a pop up for a player that played 0 minutes in a training position.

haha I think if the monkey just smashed at random notes, then eventually he would randomly press the keys required to play beethoven in the right order :P

As far as I know, you can't get a pop up for a player that played 0 minutes in a training position.

Both players played C and recieved minutes in that position only. Both players were purchased in previous seasons so that is not the case either. I check their minutes every thursday to make sure I don't have to change the training I originally set... As far as I know it is not possible either, unless forwards (PF/SF) includes C as well...
