Certainly doesn't help. When your host cities are so far apart, one can do nothing but laugh when cars and short flights are relied on so heavily, and our idea of cutting edge high-speed rail is the ******* Acela. Cost efficiency, time efficiency, and eco-friendliness are all considered when it comes to transportation. These concepts are as foreign to the US as the idea of "Just rent a SUV" is to the FIFA voters.
