And the season 16 wild ride has come to an end....here's a quick recap of the last few weeks:
July 4 - Ecuador: 92-71 win (we absorbed a crunch with no trouble)
July 11 - United States: 80-96 loss (took some risks, swung as hard as we could, promptly fell down)
July 18 - Venezueala: 70-87 loss (still reeling from the U.S. game, we were unable to pull out a win that had a chance to put us as high as 2nd place, depending on point differential).
Those 2 recent losses knocked our round 2 record down to 2-3, and we ended up with 5th place. That means we will be going straight to the consolation round to begin season 17. This isn't such a bad thing, as it will give us a head start on trying to win home court for the season 18 Americas Championships.
Before the consolation round starts, we will have 2 scrimmages (July 25th and August 1st). In these games, some of the top candidates for the season 17 team will get a chance to see some action. The team will be officially selected prior to the first consolation round game on August 8th.
Thanks everyone for another fun season, and I look forward to starting the next one soon. :)
