I do know that joining the offsite forum increases your chances of making the NBBA, as you get great advice from managers who have already made it there.

What Korey said.

There's a lot of great discussion and analysis at the offsite forum to soak up as a new manager. I've found it very helpful.

I just started at the end of last season. It's pretty much impossible that I'll make it to the NBBA without older team quitting. Several of those teams tanked multiple seasons and amassed a fortune in doing so and since there's no cap on funds they can not only sit on all that money but build as much as I am currently. I'm not complaining, I like a lot of the ascepts of this game and I will continue to play, but the chances of a smart, dedicated player in DV that started in the last few months there chances of making NBBA is a good 1in10000.

And I completely disagree with that assessment. I've been watching several teams that started in D.V a couple seasons before me (S14) that are now already sitting in D.II and doing well. After only 5 seasons in the game, these teams are knocking at the door of the NBBA. No reason at all you couldn't do the same.

As the BBs have said, tanking is technically a valid strategy. It works for *some* people. But for far more it just fails them miserably. Now, if you were talking about winning the *B3* from D5 fairly quickly and giving the reasons you're giving I'd be more inclined to see your side. And that's only because the sheer greater numbers of tankers means that there are more to have done it well.

Nobody has ever won the B3 from the US I believe. Watch out for brian tho.

NBBA isn't impossible, getting there is just like anything else, promote, survive, build, promote, survive, build etc etc. Ton of luck involved of course. A lot people find the jump from D3 to D2 daunting, but once you get there you get used to it.

Thanks Korey for the offsite forum plug.

I don't know, I just look at the league and I see a majority of the team that from S2 and S3 and I know I shouldn't play on being there in the next 5 or 6 seasons is all.

Hard to argue with that. I will say that there are a lot of teams that started around the same time I did (S8), that are at the top of their respective D2s and are very very close to promoting.

You could look at your stay in V as a time to play, learn, trade, amass seed money. Because while being in a higher division gives you more money, its a lot harder to train out of position, and in general you're limited to playing your starters high minutes. In V you can sign and play 3k guys and win the championship.

My point is I actually think there is something attractive at the low levels that new teams shouldn't overlook in their hurry to promote to get to higher divisions. Just enjoy the flexibility to try all the tactics and different kinds of players.
