in his first three years, did he play more on league games or just scrimmages?

hmmm first 2 seasons mostly cup and scrimmage at 1 or 2 games a week with a minimum of 48 minutes played a week.

I didnt move him into the regular rotation until his 3rd season.

So for an XP pop based on my 1 player its its 1-2 full Seasons (?)

Ok, So I took the time to calculate the number of minutes 2 of my players had (in their careers so far) when they popped to Awful in Experince.
Have in mind that an exact number is impossible, since different type of games give you different amount of experience. Without knowing the formula, it is impossible to know when a player will pop. However, these are my findings:

Player 1
League games = 2266 minutes
Cup games = 434 minutes
Scrimmages = 3070 minutes

Player 2
League games = 1959 minutes
Cup games = 650 minutes
Scrimmages = 1636 minutes

Obviously Player 1 has a lot mor scrimmmage minutes, but... you can notice that the sum of minutes played in league and cup games is almost the same, 2700 and 2709... So my guess is that the minutes required to pop from Atrocious to Awful in experience are close to this number. Could it be that scrimmages contribute very very little to overall experience?

A third player I studied, popped from Atrocious to Pitiful in experience with only 480 minutes of cup games and 340 minutes of league games (+750 minutes scrimmages), but he could have been higher in sublevels, or perhaps cup games are much more important than we think...

This is a complicated equation with too many unknowns, but in my opinion, a player who features regularly in a club's games, should receive a pop in Experience in no more than 2 seasons..

There's definitely a wide range of sublevels for starting experience.

Last season I had a 18 yo draftee pop from atrocious to pitiful experience after 5 league games, 1 cup, and 2 scrimmages (playing 28-35 min in each- too lazy to go add it up).

This season I had a 19 yo draftee pop from atrocious to pitiful in 20 minutes of a league game. That's a high sublevel right there.

Maybe just focusing on the pop from pitiful to awful would be a way to avoid a large effect of starting sublevel.

Thanks for adding it up though Dodor!

Thank you for adding up those big totals :) I agree though, I think I will have to pay attention to the minutes my players receive from pitiful to awful, and perhaps that will shed some light on the situation.

But unless their sublevels were widely different, perhaps 1500 minutes in cup/league games would be a good initial check for me to look at. I will update as I get more information :)

I wonder if scrimmages and cup games count do all-star games count toward experience too? It has the toughest player playing against each other. That would be good experience right?
