Maybe its just me but having access to everything immediately is not all that important in this game... unless you are talking about the transfer market.

Instead of sitting and watching your computer for hours on end why not just wait a few hours and then check in on the trainings, games or whatever is running a little behind.

This issue really does not have much of a negative effect on the game unless you are a bit obsessive about it.

I'm afraid you're right about that; there is definitely a lot of obsession behind this :-) and most of the time it really is not that big of a deal if one of those updates is running a bit late, but every now and then it is, and that been said, I completely understand why someone, supporter or not, would be upset about it.
In an example, this past weekend as I hear, some people weren't able to watch their semis. Now, that is a shame. I would imagine very few of them, if any, optioned to watch replay of the game afterwards.
And one more thing, everything affects transfer market :-) I really wouldn't say one update is more important than other.
