Tonight's action has all sorts of parallels between the two conferences -- kinda weird:
The most obvious, i suppose, is that each conferences's current sixth and seventh-place teams face off tonight.
Senecaville at Footpath Leapers-- Seneca is still bleeding cash, that's the bad news. the good news is those fine players are available for tonight's game. Footpath has to be kept from sharp objects and needs to be escorted across bridges -- dark thoughts of ending it all frequently cross his mind.
Thunder Gods at Tucumcari -- Tucumcari opened the season beating Lion Pride, which is impressive, even if it was the unimproved version of the Pride. Thunder Gods have a modestly tough Cup game (which means the opponent may try his hardest to win) and a week from hell next week -- the Bruins and TKI. (Wait -- that was my week this week!) Gods succumb to the desert Whalers.
Then there are the battles between 2nd and 3rd.
T-Rex at Ron Swanson -- the rising star plays a carefully managed squad. i think the coaches favor the same sort of player; it's just that T-Rex has more of them. i am guessing T-Rex wins by a margin similar to their victory over ATL.
The King and I at Eugene -- another rapidly improving team against a stand-pat squad. i juggled my lineups so that i could have something in the Cup game and really hoped to win this one. but i think TKI is just too good. i expect TKI to win in low double-digits before an empty house, as fans give up on the team that got clobbered by the Bruins.
the games for the first place teams are interesting, as well.
Kentucky hosts Rdkin -- both of these squads are good, very good. i don't see Kentucky losing two games in a week, but stranger things have happened.
Bruins at Window Lickers -- the post-Boudreaux era has begun. with Boudreaux, we are all children playing a giant; without Boudreaux, who knows? tonight's game will indicate whether anyone else has a chance at stopping the Bruins this season. Window Lickers are a good team, but have had the misfortune to face TKI on the road and lose by two to Lion Pride. i suppose i expect the Bruins to win, but if the margin is in the low teens or lower, then i think that means the Bruins can be challenged.
ATL will build up its enthusiasm against the Flash Mashers, while the Pride will take care of the Knights. Those 8th place holes are getting deeper.
Good luck to one and all.
