16. Sparta Hybla Valley - team salary - 161 566 - average starters' salary - 22 686 - average backup's (6-10) salary - 7 046 - arena size - 17 008

they've got a competitive arena, so that's a great start. he did it in 11 seasons, so he's a relatively new manager by this league's standards. not gonna lie, Kilof has a lot of work ahead of him. he needs a new starting sf, and a couple stud 50k starters replacing a couple of his current ones if he wants to avoid relegation. at least that's the route i would probably take if i had his team. i'd probably look for like a 25k sf and... maybe a 50k sg and pf and sell my current starting sg and pf. i wouldn't speculate whether or not he has the cash. with his arena size, plus the fact that people should be showing up for games because of his last season, theoretically, he should be able to afford it no problem.

Well thanks for comfirming in brutal detail what I'd sorta figured out in five minutes of scouting around last night. I'm in deep crap.
I might seem a relative rookie, but I've been trudging away in the same 4th division league for eight seasons, a seeming eternity, and was despairing of ever getting here. I've played quite a few of these management games, and I'm not hyper-competitive about them, but I finished 4th in my conference 3 or 4 straight seasons before this one, and its depressing when you feel like you're just treading water. Though treading water will seem awfully pleasant compared to what I'm about to endure.
For a long time I've been playing a soccer game called Hattrick which is very similar to BB. That's why I was able to catch on pretty quickly, and why I knew even before I got promoted that I'd be in a very tough spot. I've gotten this high in Hattrick and got beat like a piƱata. So I know what I'm in for and aren't going to be crying for momma, though I feel like it about now.
I know I've got to improve, and since we jump straight into intra-conference play, there's no time surveying the terrain, getting my feet wet, etc, or I'll be 0-7 and my little adventure will over before it started. I hate using the transfer list in this game. I guess I put in about 20 bids for each successful one. I've actually been looking to upgrade at small forward since early last season. You noticed what a success that was.
But enough talk for now, I've got work to do.
Good luck to all.

the thing about this league this year is, in terms of the relegation battles, there isn't really a team that i can pinpoint as destined to drop. i think all the promotees this season are better than all the demotees last season. the relegation race is going to be extremely competitive imo. all the managers really seem to know their stuff. you are so close to having a team good enough to avoid relegation, as are pretty much all the promotees. if a few rookies do it right, we could well see some veteran d3 teams get bounced this season. but yeah, no need to despair, you're already really close. in a lot better shape than any of last season's rookies.

The Jestra sale is testing the market. I don't really have any intentions to sell him unless a bidding war somehow emerges and he goes over 3. I'll probably buy him back if he gets bid on unless I see a truly elite prospect on the TL that I can afford.
