GMs aren't directly responsible for encouraging the growth of national teams and players. In that sense, the appointment of a Canadian GM wouldn't work the way you want it to anyway.

He could surely take it upon himself to help!

1) Send welcome message.
2) Scan roster for suitable U21/NT trainee.
3) Inform U21/NT coach.

That is far from a lot of legwork.

You have helped me very much, thank you Chris. I was lucky to start in the same league with you :)

Chris also helped me a lot also. He sent me a BB-mail welcoming me and helped me with training. I also had help with training from Belgian u21 scout AnGi77. Without both of them helping me i would not be enjoying this game as much as i am.

I think Chris helped ivella a little more than me because last season ivella's team beat my team in finals

Great job with Yin Beiguo ivella

No problem Ivella, I believe Yin Beiguo will dominate next season for your team and in U21. Keep training him and remember outside skills are important for a Big Man to make it to NT.

Thank you Bob, like Yin I believe Remi will dominate as well. Do you think you'll promote?

I sure hope so. Also i forgot to mention Cletus who gave me a training plan for Remi at the start of last season. Many thanks to all 3 of you for your help.

The draft hasn't been too kind to me, as I was hoping for a superstar+ potential player to build around, but I did manage to snag a really excellent rookie and I think he has a future in the U21. He will be trained every week in variety of positions, and its very helpful that he's solid and versatile, so I won't risk losing many games with him.

68 TSP is definitely a great start. Think of him as an 18 year old last year with 10 training pops so far.

The only shame is the potential of course. Allstar will cap during his 21st year.
