@polle THANK YOU Finally someone who is brave enough to say that this debate is bullshit.

@Thelonious, Ok let's finish this in a few more posts, because I am wondering if you are just doing this because you don't have anything else better to do.

1: What is your complaint?
2: Why is this bugging you?
3: What is your goal by starting this debate?
4: And if you think it is wrong, what is your solution?

Answer those correctly and not by relating to the real Belgium and how unreal this situation is, this is a simulation game, not the real world, many BB-players forget that.

Ok, time to get involved in this Debate:

1) names are part of the community, so i understand some people find them more important that others. Everyone finds certain details important, for some of them names are important. However, it isn't because a minority finds this important, that this debate should be dismissed as bullshit, unimportant or whatever you want to call it.

2) This is a managers game, a simulation game. But i think we all can understand that BB-staff have some more important issues to solve. I think many underestimate the amount of time GM's, LA's and Mod's invest in this game ( not to mention BB's too). Going thru that name list each season isn't doable. And the selection process isn't something LA's or GM's can change.

I've just looked at the list for the first time even tho i've been an LA for quite a while now. So To Thelo: The system is complex. Going thru the names is going to take A LOT of time. In the past, LoD has done that job, but since he isn't eternal, it might be time for one of the younger GM's to go thru it. I'll talk about it with LoD and see if i can come up with something, but you can't just erase it and replace it with another list. If any changes need to be made, it has to be manually. There are 3057 first names, and 13683 last names.

Going thru them is going to be a pain, not to mention that a lot of time will be lost. However, Thelonious isn't the first to voice that our name base is a bitt outdated. To me, it's something of priorities. Catching Cheaters, approving new managers and keeping taps on forums have been among my recent priorities on BB since become a GM. I didn't mind how a player was called before.

Anyhow, i haven't ever added a name to that list, nor have i edited one, so i'm first going to consulte with LoD about it. However, i should tell you Thelonious that i do dislike your tone to which you adress some other managers around here. I won't deny that !ngkor is wrong as dismissing this as bullshit, because it matters to some, but saying it misses integrity is nearly accusing the LA's ( and GM's) of being lazy and uncooperative, something which we aren't. We work hard to make this game enjoyable for as many as managers as possible. In that sense, the names that come forth should maybe be important, but you should understand that most of the BB staff have other priorities.

All you are getting from me is my word that i'll have a chat with LoD, to figure out in more detail how the name database works. If i deem it a possible effort, then i'll put my time into it to try and sort it out, while removing the old names. However, if it becomes crystal clear to me that it will take several full day's to completely get it up to date, then i'll postpone the work to a later time because as you well know, GM's have many duties and i'm not going to neglect those just because of a database that isn't up to date. That database won't run away and won't harm anyone, where as some other things could.

Last but not least, i'm going to warn you that if you keep up that tone of yours, then i will not hesitate to use my famous "GM" buttons. That name list is the work of all the LA's and GM's Belgium has had since the start of this game. A lot of time has gone into it already, and saying that it lacks integrity is the same as saying that the current LA's as well those who came before them, have done a horrible job and are just damn lazy. Show some respect for the amount of work they have done! you are a great guy to chat with, but i seriously dislike the tone your posts are starting to get in this topic. If you are respectful to others, then they'll be respectful to you. Please keep that in mind before making your next post here. I'd hate to have to use my GM-buttons on a good conversation partner

regards

R~

Another example: (5299909) and (27727651): proof that American lists don't exclude Spanish sounding names from their database, or the American player would be called "De La Rosa" instead of "Delarosa".

this alone already proves you have not been reading anything about what I tried to explain to you, so I just stopped reading your posts after I read this.
If you ever care to read what I have written, then you will understand you are wrong.
Belgium is no exception, and I could find you hundreds of foreign names with Belgian nationality in BB.
But ofcourse you didn't look for those did you?

Does that mean those names come from the Belgian database? NO they didn't !!
So how did they where created then???
I'm not going to repeat that, as I've said it many times already.

I tried to reply nicely, then I tried to explain nicely, then , since you didn't seem to get it, I tried to explain it as it is, after that I TOLD you to read more carefully and warned this thread would end if it was not used properly.
This thread is clearly still going nowhere, and is not used for what it was intended. Moreover other people start to get stirred about it to.
So I'm closing it now.

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.
