and naker is exactly the same as he was with a bunch of old guys except he is in a lower division & has less money

actually jw, eggy, xerxes & peacenroll have all gone well since then now they are all solid mid level d2 teams back then they were crappy d3 nothings

actually i was still in d3 as well & this guy was my top performer in the finals that season scoring a 9.5 rating

MVP Proposal

We have had MVPs in the Fishbowl since the first season and they are something many prople have greatly enjoyed. However with four leagues and new teams all the time the passion from some areas is clearly lacking. Some have even suggested that we scrap them. I am firmly against that but I cannot do two leagues MVPs a week myself. I actually really enjoy doing them, but in moderation.

We had several regular and fantastic MVP writers last season including Whitebeard, tremmel, Bainsy and Leeroy as well as several occasional helpers like Smeltz, Koop, Fanny, Skyhook, hb_ and probably several others I have forgotten.

As long as there are passionate people willing to put in the efforts then we can continue. But when they are busy with work or real life then we need a simple system. So rather than doing them Vios/zyler/yodabig style when I fill in I will be doing them rating style. This was the way we did them in the first season and takes only a few minutes. This will be the default for every league if the normal fantastic writers can't get them done that week.

How does this system work?
Well it is based almost purely on the player's rating. But there are some modifiers.
If the player didn't play at least 24 minutes they are not eligible.
If the player was on the winning team they get +1 to their rating.
If the player was listed as a SF they get +1 rating. (SFs always seem to be given really bad ratings.)
Tie breakers are points, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks in that order.
Unless the game was a blowout (20+ point final margin each team must get at least one player getting votes).

This is similar to what we have done in the past.

Remember this system is the backup not the primary.

What do we all think?

Couldn't the backup system simply be using the MVP writers discretion (as usual), but without the writeup? I would imagine the effort inoled is pretty similar to your system, but with (hopefully) more accuracy.

We can just leave i9t up to the person that does it! It is just good to have a system written down if someone wants to help but dose not have much time!
