well tanking for draft picks is a phenomenon that stretches well beyond BB

Maybe BB should have an NBA-styled lottery!

I have yet to ever tank a game for the draft pick since the draft rarely helps me all that much, and the cost in Fan Survey for losing I don't think is worth it since there are financial consequences in exchange for doubtful draft advantage. I have often rolled over and played dead in games I knew I'd lose anyway since if I'm going to lose, I may as well get some decent training and enthusiasm boosts. But the 5th place issue definitely has to be in list of the Top 3 of most argued topics in the forums since I've been in BB.

If Phi and both played our next game at full strength with the intent to win, he'd most likely win that one at home. Maybe he's going to try for the playoffs, maybe he won't. All I'll have to gain by winning is 5th place, but if I try to win and lose, I'll have lost a training opportunity and and my Enthusiasm won't be as high for the resultant relegation playoff. Sure, if I roll over while Phi tries to win, Phi could get a major boost in point differential and that could mean the difference in a tie-breaker with Scrap if it comes to it. Given that, how many of you would actually try to win the game against Phi if you were me? Seriously? That fact this this is even a consideration is problematic, and just one more thing to add to the "5th place sucks" debate.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I'm not tanking games, I'm just rooting for the teams above/equal to me keep winning too I too don't think the hit in arena revenue is worth it just for the possibility of going from 13th to 12th in the draft or whatever.

But yeah, 5th place sucks.

Please...NBA teams don't tank...they play hard to the final game of the regular "pre" season!

"playoff" money and training definitely impacted my decision to tank...

I was worried there when I made it to 5th place by accident...

5th place is ridiculous. There should be some sort of bonus money for finishing 5th and not sixth - maybe a percentage of the home gates from the relegation games, or the equivalent of one home game sell out. There should be incentive to finish higher than lower. I know some would say that you are guaranteed to come back to the same division, but that's not really the same as making up to $300K for finishing sixth. i also agree that managing minutes is not a realistic feature of the game. I like the training, developing players, the player market, game strategies and tactics. But, when is all said and done, I still think it's a great game even they never change a thing.

The difference in income between a higher and lower division is typically larger than $300k. That should be factored into the risk of losing a relegation series. But even so, I think your point is agreed upon by a vast majority of players here, and I have to believe sooner or later something will happen to tweak the system given the very loud protests that flood the Forum towards then end of every single season.

Off-topic but I think it's funny that my 20 year old trainee has gone from being characterized as a PG to a SF (trained JS) and back to a PG (trained Passing) in the last 2 weeks. Maybe if I train IS next week he'll be a C?

That's what she said!

(I've been wanted to make that response to you all season long, so what if it doesn't make perfect sense here.)

Looks like the top 3 positions for the playoffs are all locked in, but there could be some interesting scenarios for the 4th spots in each conference. Red Fort has a game lead on MM, but travels to my home for a game. MM play the Silverbacks at home, so but need Red Fort to lose and would then get in on superior PD if they beat the apes.

Similar situation in the other conference...
