I agree that it's hard to stay up but i wanted a team that was good enough to stay up once i got there. Hence biding my time in div 2. Div 2 is now harder than when i was there but is it still possible to promote to the ABBL for the 1st time and have a realistic chance of staying up without a relegation game?

Just curious to know weather it's possible or weather it more of a mindset of the current managers to "just get up there" no matter what the cost that is making it hard for managers to last more than one season up here

Also Koop your rise was no different to mine in terms of seasons played. You started in season 9, 3 after me and made the ABBL 3 seasons after me also you stayed up like I did - albeit with a bot in our half last year.

I just wonder if i had a good plan or i just got lucky!

It was pure luck. To have a ABBL bot and then survive a relegation series decider where the opponent's best player got injured after 1 minute of play....and only survived by 2 points in that decider as well!

Here we have the luckiest team in Australia

I was talking about me not koop being good or lucky! - i finished 5th (PD away from 4th) my 1st 2 seasons in a row! - Koop definitely got lucky!

hahahahha like I've said many times before..
and I'm getting tied of saying this.. but you create your own luck.

I put my team in a situation where should my opponent falter, I can take full advantage..
You do not stumble into the ABBL with luck, div2 is just way too competitive these days.

I was the underdog in div2 and won the title without HCA (opponent played wrong tactics)
and did it again in the relegation series without HCA (opponent's best center got injured)

would you call that luck or good planning? =P
I have a feeling with the current crop of new ABBL teams cming through, gone are the days of ABBL teams lingering in the ABBL who have no idea of what they are doing.

Guilty, I pushed my way into Div 1 with some aggreesive management ( perhaps ahead of my time ) and a bit of gamesmanship on the forum to undersell my perilous financial state.

If some one hadnt of brought one of my players on the sunday (day of the 3rd final) I would have been bankrupted despite winning the championship.

I run the risk of returning to div 2 in a worse financial state than what I was two seasons ago if I don't start thinking about relegation.

As stated before Koops has stripped his roster knowing he's safe from auto relegation, and can just stash cash so that he can survive another relegation series (smart playing)

Even if I jump out of 8th I'm going to be stuffed coming up against a cashed up Koops or Doncaster Flames in a relegation series

Better to throw in a white towell than wear a white nappy

Looks like the character whether it be a cricket or turtle, is wearing a white nappy (no offence intended)
