You were down by 11 points when Cicvaric got injured, and well on the way to being absolutely thrashed.

One could legitimately argue that I did you a favour taking him out of the game - since his replacement was (somehow) your best performed player in that game...

According to the fountain of knowledge that is wikipedia, ol Flynn went to Italy for this season, got injured after two games and terminated his contract.

So if any NBA teams are looking for a PG...

Rubio was a decent enough pick (of course with hindsight you'd take Curry, but most at the time probably would have taken Rubio). I think at the time everyone thought that Flynn over Curry was stupid. And it turned out to be so.

The worst part about taking Flynn was the Wolves then traded him a couple of years later. And got Nikola Mirotic and Chandler Parsons in the deal. We then immediately traded Parsons back to Houston for cash, and traded Mirotic for what eventually amounted to cash.

Why do I follow this franchise?

Injuries kind of killed Flynn's NBA career.

If the Timberwolves use their #1 pick on either Towns or Okafor, I reckon KG can be a great mentor and possibly help turn your team around. :)

Well, I do like the sounds of a Rubio/Wiggins/Towns core in a couple of seasons. Be doubly nice if Lavine comes on as well.

Rumor is they don't prefer Towns. Okafor will be a 20 ppg game player from game one. And has the skills to be a better defender then he was in college.

6ers could of ended up with 6 picks in the top 11. Theirs, Lakers if they dropped 2 not went up 2 and some other teams if they dropped out of top 10.

I see the lakers traded their 27 and 32nd pick to move up to early 20s to get someone like Anderson.

clearly you enjoy pain, suffering and futility :)

That grantland article is awesome reading of a train wreck. It's scary how people running several hundred million dollar company can screw something up so badly. With all the fantasy sports around these days they would have been better off getting the winner of a roto league to handle the draft and all trading.

It's too easy to speak in hindsight. Getting drafted or traded to a NBA team is just a part of being a professional basketball player. All players at this level have talent and the physical ability. But you hear things like motivation, ego, money, lack of team chemistry, living in a new environment and other things that hinder players' basketball growth while others thrive in it. Do you blame the individual or the organisation? I personally think the organisation is integral in building up a player, kind of like what the Spurs have done but not everybody can be like the Spurs. Sometimes it requires an individual or a group of individuals to change the organisation's culture. Something the Timberwolves maybe haven't done well in...

Scouting the draft is big business and some teams are just better at finding out what they need then others.
Most of it comes down to the selection of the player and the coaching they then give them. Some teams just have a lack of ability to do these things well. A prospect is never a sure thing but teams should be able to hit more then they miss.
